I used to play Runescape a lot but its not that fun so I wanna play another MMORPG but it cant be one thats pay to play. I've heard some good things about Guild Wars... Any other suggestions? Preferrably one that has a large, active gamer base.

People might hate me for saying this, but Maplestory is a decent F2P mmorpg. It's a 2-D anime drawing style, sidescrolling MMORPG, and there is a ton of things to do. Just look it up on google and check it out.

Don't think people will hate you, it has very good reviews. I've never tried it, but a friend of mine used to play it and said it was great fun...

I'm just used to people flaming because of this game, some people are very passionate about how much it "sucks" lol

LOTRO is good.

However, most F2P MMOs are garbage.

That's probably true! :p

I should have included a link to MMOhut, if you can't find something here, well, you're probably screwed.

It seems that the general concensus is that LotRO is the way to go. I will look into getting it. Thanks people!

LOTRO is good. But when you start hitting mid-end game, it "heavily" encourages you to spend money.

Is Soul of the Ultimate Nation any good? And if so, is it P2P?

I stand by what I said. I've played Runes of Magic and it sucks. It almost made me swear off all F2P games. It is extremely tedious and repititve, the quests are boring, the crafting system is awful, the combat system is basic at best, and it is HEAVILY influenced by microtransactions. If you want to get anywhere in that game, you have to spend money and the more advanced players probably spend more than people who drop $15 a month on a standard MMO.

Runes of Magic is an almost exact duplicate of WoW. May as well just play that.

Maplestory > Guildwars. Theres hardly anyone playing the game anymore, doesnt feel like an MMO at all, and the gameplay is just lackluster, feels very clunky.

The reason why LOTRO is the best one out there is because it was pay to play for years....its only now both PAY 2 play and FREE 2 play. You are limited in END game, but you can always subscribe if you like it THAT much.

This should read, most F2P MMOs are garbage after completing level 30 and up, which is usually the point where the store purchases are designed to boost players. I can't fault a game that gives me dozens, if not hundreds of hours for free up to middle to high levels. They suit my MMO needs quite well. Since they require no investment (outside of my own time) I don't have to be concerned with cash shops, as i usually create new characters when i find myself at a stand still or start the next best thing with F2P. Ive probably put in over (and im not proud of this) 1000 hours between all my characters on Perfect World and Runes of Magic (and now LOTRO) and have not spent a dime. Not sure how that qualifies as garbage.

The only good title that I know is, in my opinion, Dungeons & Dragons Online: http://www.ddo.com/.

I sincerely doubt you will regret, give it a try. ;)

No, when a game is "free" I expect it not to have strict limits like LotRO until you decide to pay for it. If you want to play it somehow seriously you have to hand over money.
