What game should i get for my birthday

well i have gotten dragon age origins and i do not want to get modern warfare 2...since i have tf2 and i do not like fps

so basically...i have been thinking that i want to get myself an RTS game since i enjoy them but don't have that many

some rts games i have played are age of empires, battle realms, cossacks, battle for middle earth, medieval total war

what RTS would you reccomend?

Maybe you would like Kings Bounty:The Legend.

a note about warcraft 3, i know that it is a very good game, but games with seriously outdated graphics kinda annoy me

for instance, i always get bored when i started playing heroes because the graphics suck

in other old games, like say, kotor, the graphics are visually pleasing and then i don't care about complex graphical effects

Get Dawn of War Platinum, it's only 10 euro/dollars on Steam. Three great games.

starcraft? 20 bucks gets you starcraft+broodwar, unless old graphics annoy you that much than get supreme commander

I could care less about RTS games but I actually liked Company of Heroes..

things seem pretty split between dawn of war and company of heroes so far

i generally prefer the more oldy or magicky rts as opposed to the modern boom boom rts but i guess i'll look into to these

also since you all are reccomending CoH what do you think about world in conflict?

and also, why has no one mentioned empire total war?

King Arthur should be coming out soon.

I would wait and see the reviews for that. It suppose to be Total War with RPG elements.

Sins of a Solar Empire is great. Also, try World in Conflict, its cheap now.

don't know about 2

my main problem with one was that you had to build stuff on existing bases

i always find that games where you can build anywhere are much more fun

The fixed base thing made it a bit more special. I loved that.

Rise of Nations is an improved AOE.

Rise of Legends is to RON what Age of Mythology is to AOE.

Age of Mythology is a fantasy spin-off of Age of Empires. Rise of Legends is a fantasy spin-off of Rise of Nations.

Rise of Legends is very unique, in both mechanics and design. It's so weird that most reviewers and players were put off, but the game is amazing once you get used to it. It also had a lot of technical problems, Microsoft rushed it so the developers focused on polishing the gameplay in favour of polishing the engine. It's been fixed, but bombed really hard commercially.
