I got a new laptop with a fast processor, lots of ram, but a crappy video card (built in, that i cant upgrade)... my old game Guild Wars plays beautifully on it, even though www.canirunit.com says my video card isnt compatible with that game, or any game for that matter, so i cant really trust that site... i thot i read somewhere beforehand the system specs for running the new GTA4 would be low, but apparently not, becuz i cant play that game. Does anyone know what types of newer games released in the last year or two i can play on this video card before i waste money doing trial and error?

Games released in the past year or two are going to present you with a pretty big problem, unfortunately. As in - none of them are going to run. You're going to have to start looking at games that are *at least* three years old before they are playable with that GPU. As a for instance, here are some benchmarks.
Doom 3 - unplayable. That makes anything else run on the Doom 3 engine unplayable. UT2004 - playable, but at awful settings Source Engine - playable, at low settings
These are three highly utilized engines, and none of the three really work that well. You can get away with UT and source games. Either way, do not expect to do much in the way of gaming with this laptop. GTA4 has crushingly high system requirements, and there is no way you'll even be able to load that game up. Your graphics card is likely not your only problem for that game.

thanks for the reply, though the http://www.canirunit.com/ site said everything else with my system passed the requirements for GTA4.

Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2390 @ 1.86GHz rated at 4.19GHz speed

3 gigs RAM

358 MB of video RAM

Windows Vista

in the meantime, i'll look up games with those graphics engines, thanks.

My girlfriends dad has the G33 it has GMA 3100 the new Intel drivers are much better than of old and it can run Battlefield 2 and Serious sam2, COD etc various other titles very well with he has E2200 2.2Ghz Pentium dual core and 2GB of RAM. The serious sam2 were some settings were medium and high etc not low and 1024x768 ran very well. Battlefield 2 is good also. 1024x768 and COD 1 and 2 do well.

Ignore the benchmarks theragu40 put up they are from so long ago the drivers have improved a great deal. Even crysis is possible on a very low level low resolution.
