If you call that a rig, which is mainly called a gaming rig, then its sad, Intergrated graphics are sad. But for casual use like typing, checking Email, browsing, then yes its good, even the casual movie, but for games....ummmm...I dont think so :|

What do you suggest I keep or replace to make it a good gaming machine? Something affordable but can play current games. I can play Counter Strike Source almost perfectly but Grim Fandango is choppy, why is that?

Then yes, build yourself a gaming rig, you can build yourself a quadcore machine with an 8800GT, 2GB ram and all the goodies, but to answer the second wuestion, I dont know, I think Intergrated graphics are sometimes known to not be compatible with some games and kinda lag out and crash

Yah cause Grim Fandango shouldn't take all that much to run compared to CS Source.

So basically the only thing missing from my laptop to run smoothly is a good graphics card?

Also, would a 8800GT be my best bet? I see people throwing out numbers and letters for different graphics cards and state that this graphics card is the best compared to this one and this one, etc.

I built my gaming rig, under $700

If you wanna save money, but still have a good Processer, get AMD, I think Intel is over priced

Well, theres the 8800GTS ( G92 ), that beats the 8800GT by a slight margin, but the 8800GT is nice and more of a value, theres also the HD3870 if you like ATI, but overall, the 8800GT " 512MB " version is a damn good card

Last question guys and I will ban myself from here for good..ok

So basicall, more RAM= faster computer, but it doesn't mean faster and smoother gaming, right? What would improve that is a good graphics card and a better proccesor than and Intel Centrino Duo Processor with 1.67 ghz? Am I right?

More RAM = better performance to an extent. 2 GB should be enough to handle demanding games and apps.

It does things like that on the top
