Anybody tried this yet? It's on Steam's Early Access and is based off of a fairly popular table top game.

Just curious to see if anyone has this and what they think about it. It's supposedly being released in August.

And no, this thread is not for you to complain about the "evils" of Early Access.

I am a backer and it is shaping up to be pretty awesome IMO. But I would not pay for early access at $65, backers get the base game for $30 I think, but you need a higher tier to get beta access. I would just wait until it is released or back it on their website to get the discount price.

Trying to charge £49.99 with forced "digital deluxe edition" featuring additional content when the game isn't even finished.

With a complete disrespect for customers, they can piss off.

@uninspiredcup:

You are not paying retail for the game. You are paying for early access. To get into the beta you had to back the game at $65 or higher during the kickstarter, hence the $65 for early access. To get the full game at release I think I only backed it for $25, maybe 30. Wasteland 2 is doing the exact same thing.

Which is bullshit. And a gimmick.

Beta's and alpha's is you, doing them a service. Not the other way around.

Did you not read the post? This isn't a thread for you to complain about the early access. If you want to do that, create your own.

Tell me more about the game. What does it play like? How are the graphics? Is it slow or fast-paced?

I am not in the beta, but from what I've seen in the gameplay vids it plays a lot like XCOM. Turn-based strategy where you are controlling a small army consisting of grunts, specialists, wizards (warcasters) and warjacks (steampunk mechs). It looks like it plays out much like the table-top game with things like covers, high ground, and other modifiers to effectiveness. Only it is fully animated (the animations are pretty cool) and you don't have to spend a fortune on buying models or weeks painting them. The UI needs some work but it is only beta at present. Anyway, it looks like a lot of fun to me, it will launch with a handful of the major factions from the Warmachine universe and they plan to add more over time.

They have some gameplay vids on the Warmachine: Tactics website, and some more on the Steam page.

I was hoping to find someone who has it. I'm not going to buy it until it actually releases, so I have time to do more research.
