So when you are wireless on your PC and you try and use something like Media Player 11 you get no options to allow the 360 as a device? I have my 360 connected wired and my PC is wireless and I have had no issues, that's kind of the opposite as your set up.

I could try the reverse and see if that makes a difference but I doubt it would.

Have you tried MP 11 or are you just using Media Center?

Your problem seems complicated, but I'll post my few issues the probably won't help, but won't hurt:

I recall having an issue with setting mine up, but it was a while ago. Something like the PC was detecting it, but the 360 wasn't seeing the PC. I later found that a previous setup was causing trouble. I found the 360 in some device area in the media center and removed it and this time, it suddenly worked.

I'd say since you already have made attempts with it wired, make sure to remove any history of that from the Vista media center before going further.

Also, more confusing. when I thought it was failing another time to see the PC, I kept missing an obvious option on the bottom of the screen to hit one a button to do a new connection. Like some how the 360 was attempting to establish a previous connection and was failing and I just needed to hit that button to start a new setup. I thought at that point I was at a dead end and never looked to what was down there. So next time you have your 360 look for the PC, and if it fails to find one, look carefully at the options at the bottom of the screen before backing out.

So it seems that the PC is not visible to any devices on the network. When you say you connect the 360 straight to the pc, how exactly, like the ethernet cable from the 360 stright to the back of the PC, bypassing the router and internet?

What if you resetup the internet and home network on the PC? Simple wizard setup to tell the PC that it uses the internet from a network, and other sharing options. Maybe some how it's currently setup to just access internet without being part of a home network.
