one of the front USB ports isn't properly connected. my guess, one of the grounding wires isn't plugged in properly

there are only two wires for the usb and they appear to be in properly and everything seems ok ...
Could be that whatever is attached to your USB port is drawing too much power and therefore is not functioning. What is attached to itseabiscuit8686
tehres nothing attached to it when i plug the usb poerts into the mobo my copmuter wont turn on and it will give me an error message and shut it off after 20 seconds

There is a short somewhere in theses wires. Check that you connect them the right way and that the wires are not damaged.
i read once that usb ports often are the first to be shut down if you have a failing power supply, id reinstall windows updates and drivers, and reset bios to defualts, if that doesnt work, could have a mobo or psu problem
