NOTE: I game at 1680x1050.

Go to you Documents folder and into the BFBC2 folder, then open Settings.ini and find DXVersion and change it from 10 to 9. That should give you some FPS. Your computer should be able to max the game easily even on DX10 though, so I have no idea what's up with it.

My guess is its your GTS 250, bottlenecking. Its a rehashed 9800gt. Try running dx9 and see what that does. Failing that reduce the screen res might help.

GTS250 isnt really a bottleneck and doesnt explain such low FPS. The term bottleneck is thrown around to much by people who really dont know what they are talking about.

A GTS250 bottlenecking a Q6700? I don't think so, And yeah people do tend to use it a bit much...

I haven't played it but there are few things you could try.

Update Display Drivers. Update Direct X.

Turn off Shadows.

Turn off anti-aliasing.

Turn off V-Sync.

Play at 1440*900.

Your card should have been able to run it. May be there is some hardware issue. Either your card is not getting enough power or the RAM modules have some problem.

Edit: Vista 64-bit is known to have issues with many games. It may be the culprit.

If it is, running the game in compatibility mode might help. TC, when you installed, did you right-click and run the installer "as administrator"?

If you can, if the DRM lets you, try unplugging your internet and turn off AV and Firewall and reinstall the game. If you have to have a connection, decide on your own if it's worth the risk to go "naked" while installing. Make sure you completely uninstall and get rid of all temp files and registry entries from the old installation and do a reboot before installing again. I would not bother with memtest unless you have problems with other resource demanding apps as well. RAM problems are spectacular and not limited to one single game. :) Did you do the driver updates and DirectX updates shariq166 suggested? If not, do that before anything else. 90% of all graphics problems in games are from running too old drivers or too old DirectX.

Thanks for all the info! The updated video drivers didn't help, however i will try updating DirectX and post back when that is done.

incorrect information is incorrect. a gts250 is a renamed 9800gtx+ not a 8800gt. And if i can get better performance than him i highly doubt that his card is bottlenecking.
