Ubisoft is a third rate bargain bin company that makes mediocre to crappy games. I rarely buy their stuff, and even then only if it's dirt cheap, like under $10. Also, Uplay is a dog turd.

Watch Dogs never looked like anything more than a cut rate GTA knockoff. I was probably never going to buy it anyway, and now I have even less reason to do so.

Before people soak their panties over this here's some info since I was there in the guru3d thread where all this popped up.

  • This "who cares" line is likely someone at ubi poking fun at how they were forced to abandon work on the extra visuals by the heads of the company to roll the game out on consoles.
  • the "E3" tag applied to special effects was put in by the modder himself so he and anyone who edits it can tell whats what

Let's not turn stupid stuff like this into your typical whiny child gamer cries.

I think as PC gamers we're getting a little too sensitive. I think the context of that code comment goes beyond's everyone's head (and is more similar to your top point rather than some random PC bashing). There's a reason why that comment is embedded in the code...it's relevant to only the programming! Just like all comments written in code. It's too easy to take that specific phrase "PC, who cares"? out of context in this scenario.

Right. The comment is literally the thing PC gamers should be least mad about when it comes to Watch Dogs and Ubisoft. The very fact that better graphical features are in the game, but disabled by Ubisoft is a MUCH better reason to be angry. How is there a justifiable explanation for that?

the only valid comment in this entire post is Uplay being a dog turd...

the rest is hater nonsense.

Not only Ubisoft disabled E3 graphics but they also crippled PC's Performnace:

Modder harnesses hidden files to improve Watch Dogs PC graphics

"It also claims to improve performance and reduce stuttering, which is something Ubisoft has yet to fix through an official patch."

I really want to see how Ubisoft will apologise for this.

For Ubisoft now, there is no place to run and no place to hide...

That proves Ubisoft nor the devs hate PC gaming.

Otherwise they could've left the PC version as is.

@R4gn4r0k: I think it would of been professional suicide to not patch it, they really had no choice.

This is very Troubling

found in the depths of the new files uncovered by modders.

If that's legit, it's so sad that PC has become this in the eyes of developers. At least they are not all like that.

I suppose. they are not gods or anything... a developer can be just another console chav that likes shallow action games only... only difference is he programs games..

a professional peasant is still a peasant.

That being said... I doubt this is legit..... anyone at the company that knows developement will know the consumor can access this file... its a PR nightmare.

Sounds like more crap about Watch Dog because of its dumbed down graphics ect.

@Nick3306:

This is not C++, it is in fact HLSL (High Level Shader Language)...

What I want to know is how did the OP acquire source code for Watchdogs? Did some Ubisoft insider send it to him?

Even the most thorough reverse engineering techniques will not include the comments. Why? Because comments are ALWAYS ignored by the compiler.

So if this is in fact code from Watchdogs, someone must have access to the source? I highly doubt that Ubisoft let source code leak. Or I'll at least need to know more before believing this "story".

So the patch is not going to add mouse wheel support so I can map it to whatever I want? I know Ubisoft hates PC, but so much so that they forgotten what a mouse is? Nothing more annoying than having my mouse be handicapped due to incompetent pc game development.

And what about a fix to be able to look up when you are in the water or on a boat? Heck, even in Ubisofts other popular game franchises Assassins Creed and Far Cry, the camera was able to look up more in the water. I hate this so much that I never look forward to getting in the water or driving a boat in this game.
