Technically Tribes: Vengeance is Tribes 3, but doesn't use the number 3. It wasn't a bad multiplayer game. There just wasn't enough public enthusiasm over it.
It might be similar to Unreal Tournament 2007 that got renamed to Unreal Tournament 3 even though it's the 4th version of the game (excluding game of the year editions).
Same thing with the GTA series with names instead of numbers to distinguish what they feel to be true sequels.
Well I'm calling this T3 because Vengeance was a piece of **** for those who really played T1/T2. Not only did it destroy T1/T2 by splitting the community, it was a really lousy game for all of us Tribes 2 Lovers. Vengeance wasn't even made by the same developer team. It wasn't made by garage games afaik. Fallen Legions: Empire on the other hand is made by garage games, the original T1/T2 team.
