With 3D starting to come into more and more games, what do you think of 3D? Technolgy of the future or just a fad?

No doubt glasses-free is when it'll really boom, but for now, just the limited content of 3D thats available requires glasses. I don't see glasses as a problem. I don't have a problem wearing them. Don't get why people say they're ugly, not like you're wearing them outside.

But anyway I love stereoscopic 3D (Not the crappy stuff thats in non IMAX theaters.) Nvidia 3D Vision is awesome. Haven't got a chance to try any of the 3DTVs yet though.

this has to be a fad
we had nothing 3D in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's
i thinkit's because tech businesses have no new ideas
i don't care for 3D
never have never will

I wonder how many of the people who hate 3D (Not saying the people in this thread) have tried stereoscopic 3D glasses over those red/blue piece of craps and the stuff in theaters. The difference is huge.

Yeah, they aren't really even comparable to be honest. Some of you guys are acting as though the 3D technology itself has not progressed in 50 years or something.

Its also likely not a fad, consumers are fickle, yes, but when the technology becomes cheap, home usage willl take off. Its just too much for most people, especially in this economy. You wouldn't believe how many people will be willing to pay the extra few dollars at a theater to view it in 3D though. Avatar certainly helped this technologies popularity.

It's come and gone many times. There hasn't been any breakthroughs that would make it take off more than it did before. Personally, I do not like 3D because my eyes are very sensitive. Once we no longer have lenses that merely try to trick are eyes, then perhaps it will last longer.

I'm excited for the 3DS myself, mainly because my eyes are particularly sensitive and don't react well to stereoscopic lenses. I'd like to see that sort of technology implemented into bigger things, but until then I'm probably not going to give 3D much of my time. I don't want to wear glasses to watch my own television.

I think it'll work for the 3ds, but 3d gaming in a tv doesn't sound that exciting to me

From the demos i've tried, the 3D film experience just doesn't work in the home, unless of course you have a 3D projector. My opinion on that may change though, as I'm in the market for a new telly and the people I know that have tried Wipeout in 3D said it is mindblowing. I'm actually trying to find a place that has a ps3 setup with the 3D games, on display.
