I saw a Toshiba 47" lcd 1080p hdtv for under a grand at Best Buy and I'm thinking of buying one. Is it good for gaming? does anyone here own one and is satisfied with it as far as gaming and blue ray movies go. People around here mention Sony and Samsung, never really seen anyone talk about Toshiba. Should I go with it?

Go for it, they make a good product. I have an old 720p/1080i Toshiba that's been good to me - of particular note is its video scaler, which does a great job (compared to other HDTVs, at least) with low resolution signals like the Wii and retro consoles. No idea if their new TVs are as good with that, though.

Can you conncect that to a hd dvr box and watch tv? I'm gonna do that so I don't think I need a monitor. I went to fry's a few days ago and saw a pretty nice lg 47" 120hz lcd, it's over a grand but I might go with that. My room is small, so it will look nice in it.

Got a friend of mine in the barracks who has a 47" LG it's nice but, costs too much would have went with 47" Vizio. I have a 42" Vizio and it rocks hella cheap 800 bucks at wal mart. The 47" Vizio same tv as mine just a little bigger was like 1,100.

I went back to Best Buy today and saw the same lg 47" inch that I saw at Fry's for 200 bucks cheaper. ONly 999.99...great deal and then I walked into Costco and saw a 52" lcd philips for 999.99. So i'm debating between the 2. Does anyone here have a philips and would recommend it over an LG??

I have had an LG 23 inch monitor and I currently have an LG 32 inch 1080p set and I loved them both. After these two LG products, I love LG. The TV I have now has a great contrast and response time and I preferred it over the samsung 32 inch 1080p set I got first. I would really recommend an LG product.

LG is much better than Philips. More often than not, I recommend an LG over other brands as well. A lot of people here say they are a bad brand, but in 2009 and probably this year they improved very much. I saw plenty of TVs when I was shopping for one, and most of the time, the LG's had an equal or better picture than brands like Samsung. Although most of the Samsung's LCDs had slightly better black levels, it wasn't too noticeable. I would go with the LG.

i just bought a Toshiba 40rv525r for $495 and its amazing for gaming. my ps3 looks crazy good hooked up with an hdmi cable. Batman: AA just looks so amazing, crisp, clear, awesome. Toshiba makes good tvs IMO, if you think the price if right go for it. but personally i dont buy stuff from best buy cause i dont like them at all, prices are high and if something is wrong and need to bring it back and/exchange it they pretty much always give you a problem and hit you with restocking fees. thats just my personal opinion im sure other people like it thats how they make millions everyday.

Well thanks everyone for the response, I'm gonna go with the LG 120hz lcd 47" 1080p. It's a grand so not that expensive I guess. It's gonna be great and yes I thought it had the best picture compared to other tv's I saw at Best Buy.
