go with amd's athlon 64 X2 series, you'll over pay if you get an intel processor that has the same performance as an amd X2. Newegg is having some very good deals on amd X2's, the 5000+ models are a real good buy, i just built a computer with a 5600+ and it runsbeautifully, at a very good price too.

intel and amd are still neck and neck with their processors but amd has much better prices on their processors. an intel processor with the same performance can be $50+ compared to amd

Intel is now on the lead with their new Core 2 Duo. If you wanna build now then with your budget, E4400 is a good choice since it's a great CPU for OC. But I suggest you wait until July 22th, Intel will have a major price cut on their dual and quad core and you'll have more options by then, like a E6600 for only $183 if I remember correctly.

you sir are a blatant fanboy who will not admit that you can get an intel processor for under 100 bucks that aces all of the x2 4XXX series and if your spending more the e4xxx series trumps all of those in price/performance. so get off of your ways

well, you don't have to be an ass about it, i dont really keep up to date with this stuff as you might. but really it seems like you get a lot more with an X2 4400+ than the E4400, and they're the same price.

sorry bout that im just kinda out of it today. summer>.> anyway the e4400 murders the x2 4400 in everything by a pretty big margin
