But then outta know where my game starts to chug for no reason at all!!! making the game unplayable for like 10 seconds and then goes back to normal! Its not my resolution or graphics cuz it does it no matter what!! I play other games on my computer like Sims 2 and it works perfectly!!! Does anyone know what might be wrong? You might try clearing out your Program Files\Steam\appcache folder. (Quit Steam first)

You can also delete the counter-strike source folder in Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YourLoginUsername.

When you start steam, and re-run css, it will recreate those files. Just don't delete the GCF file, since that's the actual game in its compressed format. (However, if you do, you will be able to re-download it.)

After that, I would defrag the hard drive.

Just a couple ideas.

those are good ideas. a quicker way than deleting the whole CS:S folder is while in steam, right click cs:s and go to properties and Verify Game CacheIntegrity, somethin like that.

not much else i can think to add, ur setup is more than ok to run the games at highly playable frame rates. somethings clogging ur system. u running anything in the background, fraps maybe?

Is the hard drive (the one with your swap file) mostly full and/or really fragmented?

Is your video card getting really really hot? For a while I had a 7950GT that kept overheating and, according to the nvidia utility, "needed to be reset". resetting was pretty infrequent, but each time would result in a 5 to 10 second hanging of the game.

Does it happen in any other games, or source games alone?

Also, what do you mean by "1.87 GHz Performance Rated at 4.90 GHz"? That sounds like something a salesman would say. :D

Check background programs, defrag regularly and delete old cached files.

Those GCF files are hidden unless you download something like GCFscape

Umm No I have tons of Memory left but I haven't defraged it yet.. so I'm gonna do that

How can you tell how hot it is? But I doubt thats the problem

This ONLY happens with source games!!! I play the SIMS 2 and stuff and get NONE of those problems
