Decide for me, which one of Assassin's Creed II and Dead Space 2 shall I get? Oh, and does Section 8: Prejudice still have an active MP community, since if I were to buy it, that's pretty much what I'd buy it for.TheOtherTheoG
AC2 is very good. All the things that you might have played through AC thinking "It would be better if they added...", they added. It's a lot more varied than AC and is a good quality game. Never played DS2, so can't comment on that!

i'd go for dead space 2. i was so bored never finished ac2. ezio is no altair. altair was so cool...
Any of the Gothics worth picking up?MythPro1
Gothic2 is one of the best rpgs ive played in 20+ years, just awesome.
Gothic3 is good to (it had horrible issues at launch but with the community patches it runs well now and its a blast to play, very big game world).
Stay away from Gothic4, its made by different devs and its god aweful.
You can spend 100+ hours in Gothic2 and Gothic3 though :D

Seconded regarding AC2, I was also too bored to finish it. And this is coming from someone who blasted through AC1. I didnt care about the characters and fast-travelling everywhere ruined my sense of immersion, though if you want AC-style combat, they did improve upon it with AC2 and added a bunch more weapons to have fun with.I already own the dead space franchise and the assassin's creed series, but no other games in the sale. Any you'd recommend?
If you're into point and click adventure games, Machinarium is just about the best example of them possible. Dungeon Defenders is pretty good as well, as is, from what I've heard, Section 8 Prejudice.I already own the dead space franchise and the assassin's creed series, but no other games in the sale. Any you'd recommend?

If you don't mind the graphics, definitely 2, it's one of the best RPGs ever created, might even be the best. although i wasn't even considering picking it up, that, followed by a quick glance at user reviews and a price of 2.49 made me pick it up with a little over 10 mins left on their countdown timer :P thanks![QUOTE="MythPro1"]Any of the Gothics worth picking up?DanielDust
My friend and I gifted each other Dungeon Defenders today, just for the heck of it.
Steam also gave me Binding of Isaac, which I am getting better at, in small doses.
Anyone here play Dungeon Defenders?
Kinda interested in it but don't have anyone to play it with :(
Ocid1
I bought it during the Thanksgiving sale. Two of my buddies bought it at launch and have had their fill with the game so I don't play it at all sadly. It isn't very fun by yourself IMO.

Im starting to see that. I played for a small amount of time after buying it on Amazon a day ago and it wasnt that great just trying to figure things out. The multiplayer is fast and theres a bunch of servers but I dont get it and it sucks cuz people dont really talk. I probably should have passed even if it was just $2. Coulda bought a 2D indie game or something. lol.[QUOTE="Cwagmire21"][QUOTE="Ocid1"]

Guess I'll leave it and get S.P.A.Z instead.
Any of the Tomb Raiders worth picking up? All of them? MythPro1If I had more $$$ I'd pick all of them up; if you had to choose just one, I say go with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. I've only played the demo and thought it was pretty good.

It's a fun game, but it's been on sale a lot and you can most likely get it cheaper soon.

Nice pick up :)
It's slightly cheaper at Gamersgate, but IIRC you're in Europe.. not sure if the price is the same there. The Dungeon Siege 3 expansion is not 60% off like the base game. Bummer.

I knew I shouldn't rush to buy it  But I got DS3 yesterday from Amazon for 5 dollars so I guess it evens out.
[QUOTE="ForsakenWicked"]I'm interested in The Binding of Isaac. Is it good?MythPro1Great game, but be ready for a challenge! Excelent, I'm up to a challenge. Is the soundtrack any good?
I just prefer the level design of the first. And the characters from L4D1 are better too. Not sure how the community is these days. Might be a little dead. Last time I played it (months ago), there weren't that many people playing.I already have LFD2. Any reason to get the first?
Cwagmire21
No, I think the second one is the better game, not to mention Valve are porting the maps from the first one into the second.I already have LFD2. Any reason to get the first?

It was a pretty fun shooter when it came out, but since this gen has been filled with great shooters it might not feel as good as it did when it came out at the end of last gen.Is QUAKE 4 worth buying? Never played the Quake games.
Note: I did not like Doom 3.

This winter sale kinda sucks. Only thing I thought was worth buying was HoI3 so that I could have a steam copy of it. Other than that, the sale has underwhelmed me so far.shakmaster13
Really? I've been quite the opposite. I've bought quite a few games, but this is my first Steam Christmas sale and maybe it was even better, dunno.

Probably could be that we have most of the games already hehe. :P I know I do, but there were a few temptations here and there. I like how they give more time limit to the games on the previous day and they put it under the new daily sale. I felt this should have been implemented a long time ago. They finally thought of it..Is QUAKE 4 worth buying? Never played the Quake games.

Yeah, it's a lot more action packed than Doom 3. It's Call of Duty in space. It was the best looking game until Gears of War.
BUT! The first quarter or so is really boring. It makes a terrible first impression. Check out my screenshots on Steam :P
Buy the original Quake while you're at it, it's amazing.
Any thoughts on Men of War? It looks a bit look Company of Heroes, just not as good. Also, is it worth picking up the first two Serious Sam games?jfcundiffIt's nothing like CoH, it's more of a simulator RTS and it's much better than CoH, I think one of them has a demo.
If you had to recommend one total war game which would it be?
MasterofMatty
Rome, but I never played Shogun 2.
Rome is just incredible. Hard to say what makes it so good, I guess it's a combination of atmosphere and slick gameplay mechanics which weren't really improved by later games.
Medieval 2 is OK. Definitely lacking Rome's charm but the medieval theme is pretty cool. Empire and Napoleon are just... lol. Better play Cossacks than those.
Does anyone know where Steam stores soundtracks? I bought The Binding of Isaac with soundtracks but I can't find the soundtrack.
Edit: Nevermind, I found it.
It depends on what your interests are. I would pick your favorite historical time period. The economy is much more complicated in Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun. Medieval 2 has the best sieges. Empire has the largest scale, and if you like the idea of building a global trade empire by making use of colonies in India and the Americas, it can be pretty fun. Napoleon is more structured than Empire, and the battles are also better. Shogun is my favorite, but it is by far the hardest game in the series. Rome and Medieval 2 are easier to learn. If you had to recommend one total war game which would it be?
