I download Starcraft from the Blizzardstore.com site because my cd shattered, but I have the cd keys. Ever since I downloaded it from the site the game is stretched across my wide screen. A large portion of the game on the left and right are cut off because of this.

My friend has black bars on the side of his screen so the game doesn't stretch longer than it should and just stay at the resolution it's supposed to. I've looked everywhere around Google, but I still can't find a solution. There's no option to change the resolution in SC options and I've tried setting the game in properties to run at 640x480, but no dice.

Bump.

No one has any idea? I've heard of people purposely trying to stretch SC to fit their whole screen, I'm trying to do the opposite because it cuts the game off on the sides

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode? You should try checking off the "run in 640 by 480 res" option

Zam

I'm playing on XP not Vista. 'run in 640x480' was on by default, I've tried running it with it on and off.

Haven't tried running with compatibility mode so I'll do that.

black bars on side of the screen is probably xfire. Xfire does NOT work with Starcraft on Vista I am not sure about XP.

Well if your friend is running Vista or Windows 7 that could explain the black bars, I know those operating system don't automatically stretch low res games like Starcraft or Diablo 2. XP on the other hand will always try to stretch the picture to fit the screen by default and I don't think you can change it.
