Starcraft 2 added in games section for GFW/1up

In lieu of the announcement Saturday, GFW(Games For Windows) has mysteriously posted a new section for Starcraft 2, slating a Novemeber release date. GFW most likely has an inside sorce, as I've never seen them post a game they weren't sure was coming. Knowing Blizzard, the release date will surely get pushed back, unless they've been secretly working on this game for a few years, only to let the cat out of the bag now.  

I don't know about you all, but this has me excited even more...I doubt they would put this section up if it wasn't true.

I just had a horrible thought:  What if Starcraft 2 IS an mmo and not a rts?  I certainly hope not.  It would be a tragedy for the Starcraft franchise.

If they make  Starcraft into an MMO, fine, I can just not play that.  But if they do this before giving us Starcraft 2 (As in Starcraft the RTS), someone is going to die.

I think the fact that they are announcing this "new game" in South Korea is a dead give away that it's a new starcraft game.  And I wouldn't at all be surprised if it is a MMO.   Warcraft was a highly respected and loved RTS.  They probably figure they'll get another multi million subs with Starcraft (which they almost certainly will).  Whether it be RTS or MMO I'll be jumping for joy.

@aschuhart:  Right, but their announcing it in Korea. They want a Starcraft RTS, not a Starcraft MMO. They're asking to be killed if they annoucne a Starcraft MMO instead of an RTS in Korea.Subacious

From a business point of view (considering the success of WoW and you make more money with MMO's than RTS's) don't be surprised at all if it's a MMO.  WoW pulls in roughly 105 MILLION per MONTH.  You can't pull in that kind of money with RTS's.  

note: i'm a HUGE RTS fan.  RTS > MMO in my book, however, you gotta look at from a business point of view.

If they managed to do an MMORTS right that would be totally awesome, but the chances of them doing that are pretty slim I think. It's not a very popular genre, but if they did a very good job with it, it wouldn't have much competition at all. If it's not an MMORTS I would prefer an RTS over an MMORPG simply because I don't like playing the monthly fees attached too MMOGs when I can play a single player for months or even years for free through local hosts.

That above all else seems to be the most plausible...kind of a mixture of the War3 hero classes and the great tactical depth of Starcraft.

Whatever the case I'm sure it'll be absolute addiction.

 I was thinking more along the lines of SC's Bnet games, but somewhere around 10,000 people playing per map per server instead of 4 :P

 As far as someone earlier mentioning that Korea would kill them if it was an MMO and not an RTS, just remember: this is the same area that instituted curfews because too many people were missing work/school thanks to Lineage 1/2 and Ragnarok Online.

Another MMO by blizzard, great :roll:. I just hope its nothing like W.O.W.

Well, no need to worry. There are rampant rumors on the net that Diablo 3 is going to be announced as well. That would make sense, and if Blizzard turned SC into an MMO, maybe they are announcing an RTS as well...who knows...only a few more hours!!

Also, don't forget, Blizzard came out immediately and said they were NOT making another MMO, that was right after the rumors started a few weeks ago.

Well it's added in the MMO genre, so I'mg uessing they are posting some false rumors or they have a spy working in Blizzard. Oh well, we will know tomorrow.

BTW, does anyone know when the announcement will be? Since I have that Korean channel, Ongamenet, which will most likely show the announcement.

Why the hell does Blizzard have to make another damn RTS.  I'll admit that the Starcraft and Warcraft games were great, but there are plenty of new RTS's coming out the next few years.  WE DON"T NEED ANY MORE.  It's time to make some godly RPG's!  I mean really.....Everyone knows that Diablo 3 would be the most insanely awesome game ever, especially if it went MMO.  I could deal with a starcraft-related game if it was an rpg or mmorpg, but otherwise.....Blizzard's gonna die.

Anything but Starcraft: Ghost is fine for me.

A MMO Starcraft could be good if they don't just copy WoW and stick in Starcraft characters.
