First of all, greetings to you all, and thanks for any reply.
I was wondering, where is the dark? The day turns into the night only by a clock on your PDA. And what about DARK? There is no visual change when it comes to night. I was wondering (again), for what do I need a flashlight or nightvision (except mission in X18 lab). The night falls, and my visibility is the same as during the day. So, if anyone knows how to make S.T.A.L.K.E.R. go dark, please let me know. One more thing: I am running the game on 1280x1024, everything is ON and HIGH except Full dinamic ligthing.Could it be the reason? --Thanks again for replies, stay  cool...

Well, there are mods out there that make the nights darker. I thought it was dark enough, personally. And where is this night vision everyone talks about? Please don't tell me it's just a key stroke...

Night vision reqiures an item or a gun with it in order to work. Once you have said item, then it IS just a keystroke.

I think you get nightvision with the first suit you get after your starting outfit... But as for the day night, if you got a shader 3.0 or higher card, you'll notice as far as I know... dx8 mode = you wont notice.

well if you play the game with brightness high than yeah you wont notice anything...you need to lower it and plus need to play on the dx9 mode... and if you really wanna see changes play on full dinamic lighting....ohh another thing there are alot more underground areas were u will need to use the flash light trust me even if you have brigthness on high....

I thought nightvision would help to sniff out the Bloodsuckers (which it should), but it didn't, so I basically never used it either. Flashlight is just awesome.

objects dynamic lighting is enough to see a clear change from day to night, you dont need full dynamic lighing to be on. also the default brightness, gamma, and stuff like that settings are really high, you should try turning those down too.

the only time i didn't see light or dark is when i turned lighting on to static... then the game plays without weather effects (i played for about 4 hours and didn't see a change in the weather) and no day/night effects.

other than that, the night wasn't too dark outside but I had to use the flashlight to see effectively

You'll need to activate at least "Object Dynamic Lightning" to see a difference. Static is too bright.

I could tell a big difference even with static lighting. Yes, the sky was not totally dark, but I've been in many real locations where the night sky is not so dark.

Thanks for replies guys... I've turned full dynamic lighting ON, and there was dark :)) As for the nightvision, I got it when i attacked military warehouses, sniffed a little bit around and came across a suit with nightvision attached. But as you've said, it looks crappy, and it's better with flashlight :)) Stay cool and play as more games as you can :))

Hi Friend,

You can get darker nights by turning down the Gamma, I thought it helped alot. See ya around.

Nightvision ability is from type of amor that you wear. Leather armor and bandit armor don't have nightvision, Stalker Suit has crappy nightvision and SEVA Suit has cool nightvision. Try it, you will know the differences.

nightvision is bound with your suit which I think is silly because in mp you buy it seperate and many good suits have the crappy green nightvision (purple is better)

night is a LOT darker when you have dynamic lighting on but I wish it was darker with static lighting.

In the end, we all agree that night in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. comes with Full dynamic lighting ON or at least with Objects dynamic lighting :) But I am getting impression that 85% of us do not have the right machines to keep Dynamic lighting ON to run the game smoothly :) I am running game on Athlon 64 3500+, 1GB RAM and Ati X800XL 256Mb (256bit)... Well...

You need to turn on Full Dynamic Lighting for darker nights, or download a mod...

no problems here, i usually waited out the nights because that green night vision was hard to see, the only night vision i would like was the blue from duty

other then that i could barly see at night, other then what my flashlight was shinning onÂ
