im looking to upgrade my Dell Studio XPS(yeah i know make fun of me for a Dell LOL)

and i have a intel i7 920, 6 gigs of ram and a HD4850 which leads me to my point

The HD4850 requires a minimum power supply of 450 watts, and that is the card in my system right now...

im looking at a upgrade for my PC, im specifically looking at a HD 7700 OC card and that requires a minimum 450 watts power supply...

do you guys think the HD 7770 OC would work in my rig?

i know Dell PSU's are acutally known for their quality and ability to "give more power" then it suggests it could

so you think the HD 7770 OC would work in my dell PC?

much help would be appreciated. thanks

I doubt there would be any issues at all.

A 7850 2GB would work perfectly fine on 450 watts just so you know.

oh wow interesting. thanks... i will most likely get a hd 7850 now.. they recommended 500w minimum for a HD7850 but it should work on my PC

just a rig to play some games on the side, dont really care to play at the top graphics just some good fluid graphics at 1080p resolution. something to hold me over for now

Check the dimensions of the 7850, may not fit.

Depends on how old the system --and more particular the PSU-- is.  The older a power supply, the lesser the percentage of its advertised power gets...

Besides, it's not the wattage that is important, but the amperage.

An i7 920 needs around 100/110 watt alone, so that leaves about 350 watt for the card.  Since the TDP for an 7850 is about 110 watt, that 450watt PSU should be able to handle things, despite having a few years on its calender.

i rememebr this system haha good times werte had when this one hit the shelves at costco in the USA. they disappeared from the shelves twice in a row due to the insane price (i think it was 750 for the  desktop tower iirc and to build it would have been 890 or so)

i checked, my current HD 4850 is about 9 inches in length... i have about like 4-5 inches of more room down in the case for the length of the new GPU i will get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161404 the HD 7870 ghz i want to get is about 11.69" in length, should fit in my PC
