It's a rear projection CRT, but it does 1080i. I'd be buying it used from a friend who's moving to California.

My opinion = no. I have watched TV's like that and they don't have anywhere near the technology of modern TV's. The picture quality, even in HD, will disappoint you. The only thing that TV will do is give you a large TV. I would seriously think about saving up some more cash and getting a modern TV with processing chips and image modifiers.

Depends on the price and everything... does the TV look bright enough to you? that was my main problem with CRT's. That, and power consumption.
