I got my computer running and everything. Even my monitor seems to be working fine at the moment. At least its been on for over an hour and a half and it hasnt turned off.

Anyway when I took my cpu out of my x51 a small sliver of white paste came off but I put the cpu back in my new case anyways. Too lazy to wait. My temps for the cpu at idle is 38c min and 47c max. I'll update on the load temps soon.

My load temps so far have gone up to 60c on my cpu.

On Crysis 3 my cpu went up to 80c.

Should I reapply some new thermal paste?

The picture doesn't help

Yes, did you prep the heatsink beforehand?

Anytime I move the heatsink I do a complete clean, prime, and then application of the thermal paste.

Next time make it a habit of reapplying thermal paste. Any debris or finger grease could affect the temps. To get the most out of your system, apply some artic silver thermal paste.

When having removed the heatsink, always, but *always* do a thorough clean-up and re-apply some thermal paste. Always.

"slipknot0129" and "smart" don't exactly go hand in hand.

Future practices always keep some thermal paste around. Its like having tape or glue around the house. It is not a matter of "if" its a matter of "when".

Im gonna buy this new heatsink and some new paste. http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375208856&sr=8-1&keywords=hyper+212+evo

Will I need to take my motherboard out to put in a new backplate or something? Also will it fit in my Apollo NZXT case?

Since my monitor seems like it wont stop working, I might as well spend some money on a good cpu cooler. My cpu fan is loud.

Yeh, you will need to slide the plate underneath the mobo, unless you can reach it from the other side of the case once the panel is off.

The Hyper 212+ has a $10 mail in rebate at Newegg and TigerDirect at the moment, so it's only $19.99. I would just get that, since they perform the same anyway...

80°C is too high for a CPU. You should reapply the thermal paste.

An Alienware on a shanty looking desk, and even more shanty looking room with peeling paint. Talk about wrong priorities!

I thought Alienware PCs didn't need thermal paste, or cooling for that matter....

I read that the hyper 212 pro wont fit in my NZXT Apollo case. Any good cpu coolers that lay down horizonal?

I put some paste on my cpu. Now the temps go as low as 35c on idle to as high as 60C in Crysis 3. Seems like Crysis 3 is smoother too.
