Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of selling my pc and buying a notebook instead but, I need some help and your opinion.

------------------My current PC---------------

- ASUS GTX560

- GEiL 4GB DDR2-800 (2x2)

- 1TB SAMSUNG HDD 7200 rpm

- 500GB SAMSUNG HDD 7200 rpm

- 320GB Maxtor HDD 7200 rpm

- MSI P35 NEO MOTHERBOARD

- INTEL Q6600 QUAD CORE 2.4ghz

---------------------------------------------------

I'm also willing to sell this PC with a Samsung 20" screen + Razer Lycosa Mirror keyboard + Saitek Cybord R.A.T. 5 mouse.

Now, what are your thoughts about the price I should ask for this whole package?

Also, do you have any thoughts/experiences with gaming laptops and can you advice me some good brands/models? I'd like it to be a good notebook so I can keep it for several years and be able to play games like I can now.

I'm from Europe but I'm willing to buy it in America so it's cheaper to me :p

Please share your thoughts with me :)

Play games on a notebook? I don't even think that's possible...

Don't think you'd be able to play games on thes same laptop for several years. Atleast at good settings. And definitely not for whatever money you can get for your PC.

I'm sorry forgot to tell, it doesn't have to be the same price as the selling price.

It's okay if I have to have to pay some extra.

What I would recommend is to keep your PC and buy a cheap notebook if you want to keep playing. You won't be able to play any recent game on a notebook other than flash games. If you want to buy a gaming laptop, that will cost you a fortune. I wouldn't be able to recommend you a good gaming laptop.

First of all, why would you sell your mouse? You're not gonna be gaming using the touchpad...

Personally, I wouldn't recommend a gaming laptop since it has a small screen and it's extremely heavy.

Here is the benchmark list for mobile GPUs. You want a card that's "green".

As for the brand, I would recommend ASUS/Toshiba.

There isn't a laptop that would be able to match your current PC in performance.

Keep that in mind when you want to be able to keep it a few years to play games. (hint: it won't work very well)

I'd go with ASUS. I have a Toshiba laptop and netbook. Toshiba laptops aren't exactly the most user-accessible and their BIOS may be locked from older Windows OSes such as XP. Then, there's the ridiculous amount of garbageware Toshiba installs. I counted 19 that I had to uninstall from my Toshiba netbook.

Remembering the huge numbers of laptop gamers I saw in the cafeteria last semester, I noted a lot of ASUS laptops among them. The ASUS G-series seems to be very popular.

Thanks for the advice,
Are there any of you who have a gaming laptop and what are your experiences with it?

If your set on going the laptop route just know they are ergonomic nightmares by design and unless you want to be in pain and discomfort after only a short while of using one that possibly may become chronic when you get older having good ergonomics is a must. I would recommend not selling the display and external mouse and keyboard as inorder to really enjoy a laptop especially for gaming you need at least an external mouse and keyboard(or sell them for wireless m/kb with a nano usb reciever for the extra convenience of no wires to deal with) and you can then prop the laptop on books or something so the screen is at eye level and your not craning your neck downward putting strain on it. But a bigger screen would be a must in my opinion if the laptop is going to be your main computer so keeping the external display or selling it to buy a bigger one would be a good idea. Essentially using it like a regualr desktop pc is the best way imo. Getting a portable laptop stand like this would also be a good idea so when your out and about with your laptop you can use it more ergonomically altough I would not use it as a main stand doesn't raise the laptop enough for that.

Yup... especially when you run into hardware issues and you need to troubleshoot problems. Laptop is great for that.. or just lazy Sunday websurfing on the couch...while your girlfriend cooks you breakfast. I love laptops for that... but nothing else... and especially not for gaming.

If you are looking for "limited portability" (i.e. moving from hotel to hotel due to work, but still gets to have a proper desk under the laptop when playing), then I would suggest looking at the Sager laptops (http://www.sagernotebook.com/). Powerful, and the price is decent too. A model with a few essential configurations + GTX680M costs around 2k. If you have a lot of cash to burn, you can consider the Alienware laptops, which can have up to two GTX680Ms while costing 3k.

under normal situations say u were making a foolish choice, spending 3 times the money to get a machine that performs worse for gaming than ur current desktop, all in the name of portability. however YOLO!!!!! you only life ONCE, so do what u want and do it with a bang!
