Just curious as to what temp. keeping the CPU below is ideal?

Running a Core i7 2700k OC'd to 4.4. Maximum temp. thus far running prime95 is 69 C with a Coolermaster V6GT.

I just reseated the cooler and am seeing a 12 C difference...obviously, did not do a good job the first time. Nerves.

First time building a computer. Not sure what took me so long to wise up.

Room temp. is 78 F...

Thanks.

For extended use, i7s should supposedly be kept under 75C, i5s under 70C, and i3s under 55C.

Good temp for warm room temp. Mine in a warm room (2600k) gets to 70c with 4.2GHz OC on Intel Burn Test max setting. That's with a CoolerMaster N520. Vcore is set to 1.245v. My RAM is also running at 1866Mhz which adds heat, because the memory controller in the cpu has to work harder.
