I’m a proud new owner of a RTX 2080. Unfortunately my excitement had been tempered with a nagging problem.

I’m losing connection to my display port randomly. I may make it for 30 minutes, or I make it through a few hours, but I’ve lost connection to my monitor through my display port at least 6 times since Friday. I have deleted old display drivers and fresh install newest driver. Seemed to work for a day, but now back to same problem.

I have read others have same problem, so my question is, is this a diver problem or a hardware problem? Do I need to return my card for another, or just get my money back and forget about the RTX cards altogether?

My RTX 2080 Ti has not given me any problems. I have the Zotac Amp model. Which one did u get? Perhaps it is defective or an issue specific to your model. Try updating the BIOS for your card if possible.

@BassMan: it’s the Evga GeForce 2080 XC.

I will look into the bios thing, I never heard of bios update on a GPU before, just driver update. I will probably just swap it out with another model if I can’t resolve this issue. My gtx 1070 was flawless, but I sold it to help buy the rtx 2080.

@jopython52:Is it only after changing GPU this started happening? Try another cable perhaps?

Yes, the only thing new is the GPU, same cable and monitor that I was using with my gtx 1070.

Success. The new MSI 2080 card works like a champ. Seems like a better made card than the EVGA card. Now I’m a happy camper.

I did have to have my case modified for the card to fit, it was about 3 inches too long. So I had someone cut out and remove unused drive bays to make room.
