OK there is 3 types of players when it comes to rpg games. people who don't like a full true rpg game. There is people who hate hack and slash rpg games. then there is people like both.

Any ways there was a debate about this some time ago on game spot. I have a video I found and would like to share to prove my case. There was a study done bout I can't find a Internet sight on this debate. however i did find this video.

well i do have to say that for full rpg's there are a lot of cinematics... i would say generally speaking more in turn based rpg's, than in action rpgs.

but as i said it before i like them both.

i like sports games, i find it's all about how you play them, sports games should be enjoyed with friends, racing games are the only ones that i find enjoyable by myself

I think you meant to say JRPG? since there aren't many turn base CRPGs; Fallouts are but no way are they *cinematic.*

and I have no idea what does *full* RPG mean.

basically an RPG which isn't an action one, generally slower and have a more in depth story, it said on the video that oblivion and morrowind classed as full RPGs

I like any kind of RPG, I don't like RPGs more than Action RPGs, but there are more RPGs that are good.

I like both about equally. It depends on my mood as to what kind of RPG I'll play at any given time though. All told, I just generally like to play RPG games, so it doesn't matter what variety it comes in. :)

oh wait sorry i see what happened quote technical difficutlies.. ok umm well honestly there are 3 types of major rpgs... turn based.... action based.... and perspective base (like morrowind)

1 turn based has more cinematics than any of them.

2. action based has some cinematics, but generally not as much as turn based ones. although this is not the case everytime.

3. perspective rpgs hardly have cinematics except for maybe key elements in story or something... alot less than the other two.

*perspective* RPg, so you just make up a genre at will anyway you see fit?

also, would be nice if you give an example of cinematic *turn base* CRPG.

I respect all the types of RPG games, there should be a form of variation to accomodate all gamers. Personally, I like to lean more towards action RPGs. I love action on the whole I also love stopping gameplay and going deep into the RPG elements but am easily bored so I can't handle the RPG alone. Hack and slash on the whole isn't my thing, any old fool could repeatedly mash a button.8)

I wouldn't say that the regular RPG games are "true" RPG games, yes it was the first type in the RPG genre. That doesn't make it a "true" variation of the genre, we need to consider evolution of games, arcade to simulation... 2D to 3D

What's most important is the fact that a player can assume a role and make that player reflect him or who he wants to be, and be connected with the chatacter as he progresses through the story. No matter what the presentation is, that just determines how it may appeal to a gamer.

I tend to like CRPG's more than ARPG's [action for those are lost]. Mostly because once I've completed a CRPG I've felt as if I've accomplished more with my time than waste a bunch of zombies with my leet axe skills.

you're talking about JRPG; Fallouts are turn base, King's Bounty: Legend is turn base, but there aren't cinematic whatsoever.

I have enjoyed "true" RPGs more than action RPGs, but I like the concept of an action RPG like Oblivion & Gothic 3 more.

Any more, I have to say Action RPG. I would consider WoW or any other MMO to be an action RPG as there really is no story telling involved. The closest I've played to a "full" RPG lately was the Witcher and I never finished it. I just find myself getting bored to quickly if I don't have a lot of combat of some sort going on.
