Are you running sli/crossfire or do you have a dual core gpu? I have to disable catalyst ai on my 4870x2 or it turns into a slideshow when I start some levels.

i doubt it's a bug, your laptop is probably overheating if it stutters after a while and when you close it and open again it's fine,as it probably cooled down by then..

The video card does, yes. I'd suggest you elevate the Laptop over the surface of wherever you've got it, so that air ventilation goes underneath. And try to lower the more GPU-heavy settings, like AA, shadows, and texture resolution. Hope that helped.

How old is your laptop? Might be an idea to get a can of compressed air and give it a blow out, might be getting a bit dusty in there if it is overheating that is the problem.
