Hello all,

I've just bought crysis, I'm 15 - 16 years old and I would like to remove blood from it, since my gaming is constantly being observed by my superiors (or so called parents).

I don't intend to grab any north koreans by the neck, so If I remove the blood violence should be minimum. Anyone knows how to do that ? Is there something on the menu that turns it off, like in COD ? If it's possible, how do I get rid of it ?

PS: I don't find gore and intense violence enjoyable. NO TO BLOOD, YES TO SPARKLES ! (hope to get to the alien section of the game soon!)

isn't there an option in the menu to turn off blood and gore? Let me check.

edit: Yes you can uncheck blood in the Game settings menu.

no problem, be sure to check out the natural mod for crysis aswell. It will make the game look even nicer and more realistic.

I would definitely rate the game Teen, seeing as you've already played CoD I doubt bad language will hurt much.

Crysis has some pretty bad language in singleplayer (North Koreans usin the "f" word several times), but multiplayer, there isn't really any dialogue.

Also, there is an option to disable blood in the options. ;)

but there's a cheat code that makes them all speak in korean, even in non-delta difficulty level. so unless his parents speak korean, they won't understand.

Hehehe the domestic overseers.

Yea i think there is an option to turn it off.

Crysis really isnt a violdent game though, the bodies dont even ragdoll after they hit the ground - probably has to do with the game being developed in germany.

Why are your parents so concerned about it? You should be almost within the recommended age of the game - if you are living in the US - im guessing tis 17+ over there?

Though I cant talk, my parents didnt really care or monitor what games i played. Never phased them.

That's one of the things that makes the game realistic, so why turn it off? ^^

I'm fine with the vocabulary . I'll use headphones so no one will listen to it ;)

I'm fine with blood and gore . But, well, you know how it is, I live with my parents, their rules, and they don't support violent games, so I need to reduce it to a minimum.

Thanks for the help.

Glad you think that way ;)

"Are.. are you home schooled........"

Nope, I just find the destruction of robots more fun than the destruction of humans.

" Yeah. I usualy just pause the game when someone comes by."

That will cause my parents to stop by and say : WHAT THE **** ARE YOU HIDING ?

" That is indeed wierd and creepy "

They don't watchme play, they walk by sometimes and look what I'm playing and show me some of their criticism.

HOPE THAT ANSWERED ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ! :D

And I like to say that I'm trying to reduce violence to a minimum because I am in a good state of mentality and care for the world . lol

im glad ur parents actually take the responsibility to monitor such things instead of just letting you play gorey games to keep you entertained then when you act up or something (not saying you do, i don't know you, im just talking in general) blame it on violent video games. i hate it when parents do that.

I think the ESRB rating system needs to be done away with and games should use the same rating system and ages as movies do. Surprisingly not alot of parents understand ESRB ratings from my experience so get suckered into buying these games for thier kids. To top it off most of them dont even bother watching thier kids play the games they buy them.

The rating systems for games are just about the same.. Whats so hard to understand?

E = G/PG Teen = PG 13, Mature = R.. They are the exact same age requirements too boot too.

Alot of parents I know think just because it says M for mature dosnt think it is all that bad when in alot of cases some games can be very graphic with the M rating. You have to tell them just because they think Timmy is mature doesnt mean that just because such and such game rated M for Mature will be ok for them. On the other hand R means restricted and is allways accossiated with violence, gore, patial nudity, and vulgur dialogue. I think a game with an R rating would definantly make parents look twice at the content as I have personally known parents who wont let thier childeren watch a rated R movie but will however let them play Mature games simply because they dont understand the rating system and most seem to think that games are games and ment for kids.

I think E10+ is probably the equivalent to PG. Anyway, I agree, they don't need to be changed as they are the same. My problem with the ESRB ratings is that they don't seem to rate games equally to how the MPAA rates movies. For instance, a lot of games rated M seem like they could pass for PG-13 fairly easily if it was a movie with equally explicit content. That's what I feel needs to change.

yeah i have to agree, restricted and mature have different connotations for parents, they see restricted and they think oh i dont think that sounds very good for my kid, but they see mature and they think oh ok maybe it just has a complicated story and some bad language or something, i work retail (specifically with electronics and games) and most parents dont know what the hell game ratings are or mean, you might but thats because your a gamer, most parents arent, or most of the ones i know with kids old enough to play games anyway, ive stumped many a pre-teens plans for getting GTA by pointing out to their parents the rating and they'll say something like "oh well mature isn't that bad right?" cause they think that games do have an R rating (they're used to movies) so they dont think M is the equivalent to R. so i turn it over and show them exactly why its rated M (because really, parents don't look at that) and lets just say most of those little preteens that think they're so clever dont get anything at all. the fact is, games aren't taken as seriously as they should be, and a more explanatory rating system would help, i personally think that the age should be raised to 18 and that M games should be only sold in specialty stores with people who know what they're talking about. because i am sick of gaming companies getting blamed and sued for irresponsible parents who want to blame violent video games for their kids problems. they want to say they're just games what could they do until they're kid does something like get in a fight or bring a gun to school or something to say "OMG ITS THAT VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES FAULT! LETS SUE THEM SO WE CAN GET A LOT OF MONEY AND ACT LIKE WE'RE TOTAL VICTIMS" so yeah, i think games and who gets them should be more monitored, not necessarily whats in them, cuz i do like gorey games, but yeah i deff think that game companies need to stop just taking out gore and leaving in the violent content as a way of saying the game isn't that bad (cuz u know, its ok to shoot some one in the head but oh no its bad to see their guts). they'd avoid lawsuits better if they made a more effective warning and label system.

Lukemaneiro

Anyone else find it ironic that by removing blood, you think the violence is less?

The violence will stay the same, only the gore would be less.

Anyway, I am splitting hairs. Go to GameFAQs I am sure they have a console command to remove blood.

Don't need a console command. Like others said, there's a little checkbox in the game options for blood that you can check and uncheck.

I find it odd how Crysis has no ragdolls as its made in Germany but they are fine with showing a corpse hanging from the trees slightly mangled, dripping a pool of blood. You might want to get through that part quickly, TC :)

Jack Thompson youth right here.

Adding blood to the game will definitely corrupt your state of mind. j/k but seriously your almost 16, tell your parents to stop babying you when they see a bit of blood in a mildly violent video game.

Man. Reading threads like these make me appreciate how cool my parents actually are. They imposed no restrinctions on violent or sexual images for me. In fact, they encouraged it.

I grew up (we're talking 8 years old here) reading Viz and watching slasher movies and I grew up to become a pacifist and a vegetarian.

But what is your point oh great and glorious mfsa, you may be asking yourself.

My point is your parents suck and you should stage their suicide at your earliest convenience.

I like mfsa had parents, for lack of a better word, could give a flying ****. I saw R rated movies as early as I can remember, and was duking it out on duke nukem and doom right alongside the older kids when I was little.

Great parenting right there!

OK so your parents don't like you play games with gore and foul language but they will curse in front of you. most games have about as much foul language and gore as cable tv (CSI). God love the v-chip (used alot in your house i suspect)

If your parents curse in front of you then tell you not to play games with cursing, then its kinda like blowing smoke in your face and telling you not to smoke.

For the record. I'm a grown man now with a child on the way. I will raise my children they was i was raised. I will not censor my children. I will let them see the world for what it is, and not shelter them away from it. I will show them right and wrong in the hopes that they will make good informed decisions.

Ive played violence games from a very early age and it has had no effect on desensitising real world violence at all.

So yea that logic isnt the greatest.

You could just say: I like playing games without the blood.

mfsa

Same here and I second that. It happend to me only twice that my parents didn't allow me to do something with, or in, a video game. And in one of those situations my mom kind of freaked out.

1. Once when I was a little kid and I was about to buy a video game, my aunt told my dad that violent video games would make me violent. My dad didn't want to argue with her, so he didn't allow me to buy that particular video game that I wanted to get. Funny thing is that about a year later he bought a violent video game for me. Now about 10 years later, I still haven't killed anybody so I guess my aunt was wrong.

2. Once when my mom walked by, she saw me play GTA Vice City. I had turned on a cheat which would make all the civilians try to kill everyone, including me. There were a few female civies trying to kill me so I was forced to blow their heads of with my machinegun. And right at that moment, my mom walked by and saw me do that. She thought I was having trouble with females, which is why I wanted to kill them all and she thought I was having phychological problems or something. I quickly explained how I was only defending myself by showing her how my character was getting beat the crap out of by some prostitutes.

The funny thing is that a few months later when I was speaking to my mom, this conversation poped up again. I then pursuaded her to play Vice City so she could see for herself how the game is like. At first she was walking around casual, trying not to break the law. Then she asked how to get a car. I told her she had to steal one. She thought that was kind of bad but she finally hijacked a car and started cruising the streets. I think it was inevitable that at some point she would accidentaly drive over a pedestrian, killing the poor guy or girl in the process. And that's what she did, she drove over a guy and killed him. She made a big deal out of it and said she was feeling bad for the guy she just ran over. She wanted to stop playing but I pursuaded her to play for a little longer. Now, here it comes... Shortly after that first kill, she was driving on the sidewalk, trying to run over as many pedestrians as possible, with a big smile on her face!

From that moment on, she didn't really care anymore what I was doing in my video games. I'm not sure what tricked her into doing such a sadistic thing (sarcasm). I guess it was a good way to relieve stress.

I'm 17 now, I also remember watching Total Recall, when I was about 7? Duke Nukem 3D was one of the first games I played, while I was 7, 10 years later, and Im still not old enough to play it ;)

I also remember having watched American Pie with my family... that was ... funny.

Totally with you and mfsa, I don't think my parents know/expect me to watch porn though.

For the record. I'm a grown man now with a child on the way. I will raise my children they was i was raised. I will not censor my children. I will let them see the world for what it is, and not shelter them away from it. I will show them right and wrong in the hopes that they will make good informed decisions.

The man has a (very good) point

I grew up (we're talking 8 years old here) reading Viz and watching slasher movies and I grew up to become a pacifist and a vegetarian.

Man. Reading threads like these make me appreciate how cool my parents actually are. They imposed no restrinctions on violent or sexual images for me. In fact, they encouraged it.

But what is your point oh great and glorious mfsa, you may be asking yourself.

My point is your parents suck and you should stage their suicide at your earliest convenience.

the end of your post makes the rest of it totally irrelevant you know that right? "im a pacifist, now go kill your parents"

You know, there's nothing wrong with making a joke every now and then.
