I was wondering what router everyone here would recommend nowadays.

We're looking to upgrade to gigabit internet. Our home is 2 stories, approximately 2000 sqft/186 square meters.

Latency is a bigger concern for us than raw speed, as other than a few simultaneous streams of 4K Netflix, youtube, and a few other apps, we'll likely be "competitive gaming" (ie. shooters, mobas, etc.) and would prefer the most expedited connection possible.

A quick google search said the TP-Link AX50 would be good, but I wanted to hear what the experts say first. Thanks!

Since you're talking about 2 floors I'd suggest getting a tri band mesh routers - this will ensure you have great cover on all over the house with good signal / speed.

Negear, Dlink, TP Link - even Google Nest if you've got the money for it.
