Ah.. So it seems my 7900 is dying on me *again* (the stretched poly issue), so whilst I wait for the wonderful BFGTech to waste their money on replacing my 7900 for the fifth time (No way am I paying for the inconvience of a problem that was of their design!), I'm stuck wanting to play some old school / retro games!

Anything from 2003 and before is suitable I feel (unless the game post 2003 isn't too demanding, things like Darwinia obviously fall into this category)..

I've played to death all my old games such as HL1, UFO, UT1, C&C, TTD, TIE, BG2/PST, Starcraft/WC3, TR1/2/3, JA2... So a suggestion that isn't one of those is most welcome ;)

Any genre is welcome!

So, please help me out here so I can go out and buy some epic fun and retro games :D

Try 'm dude. If you really like classical PC-games this are "need-to-play-games". It's a must if you want to call you a true "HardCore-Gamer".

If you like space adventure and exploration games, you must play this. Also be sure to look into Starflight 1 and 2, which both helped set the stage for that game.

The Marathon trilogy, made by Bungie in the 90's is now free to download. Here it is ported to the Aleph One engine, so you will need to install whatever Marathon game you want and the Aleph One engine, and then put all of the aleph one files in your marathon folder. You can download it here:

Freespace 2 is also an awesome game, and also free from Hard-light.

Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow six 3, and Call of Duty are also great games that arent too hard on system requirements.

If you prefer really old games, try the lucasarts adventures:

Monkey Island series,

Grim Fandango (everyone should really try this)

Sam & Max ++

Alien versus Predator is also fun, a little bit scary as marine, and really cool as alien or predator xD

And if you are like me (before) and have a geforce 4mx you might be able to run SWAT 4, i was :)

Here are a few games from around that time, or earlier:

Star Wars: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, BF 1942, Max Payne, Quake III, Unreal Tournament 2003, Halo, Far Cry.
