Yep, given the jump over the 280 in performance. I was thinking it would be $449.

Good luck with that AMD.

Sounds way to high. I was hoping for $500-550 for stock cooler and maybe $50 more for a bundle/third party cooler

If this is true ($700) then thats an absolute joke (especially with 20nm due next year).

If you can afford a $700 card might as well just get the Titan

Support for CUDA in 3d applications(it performs better than the quadro 6000 in a lot of cases) and will have a ton of resale value.

Same reason the gtx 590 sells for a lot now.

Someone pointed out in the comment section of that article that the listed price was for the BF4 bundle and one-day shipping.

Its apparently for the special edition BF4 bundle. Its different colored and theme design. Comes with BF4 Delux and some tackey BF4 collectable item.

That would be my guess. I see the standard edition between 600-650 dollars.

GTX Titan still hasn't gone down much from the "pre-order price" where I am (US).

Now GummiRacoon is gonna barge in here and say that I am "minus intellect."

The whole flagship being over 600 dollars started this year. It was always around the 500 dollar mark before.

Count me out if true. I might get one but I won't be spending that much, £300 is my limit these days, don't need anything more than that really.

$729? Out of your mind AMD. What, did you hire the whole NVIDIA marketing department? I paid $550 for my EVGA 780, and that's even a bit high. Two 7970's with do, ens of free games makes so much more sense you'd be an idiot buying the 290, imo.

Well, we'll see how many "dumb" fans AMD has. NVIDIA will drop the price of the 780, making the purchase of 290 that much more difficult. In a way, nvidia will be playing AMD's game now if they're smart. The consumer is ALLWAYS to blame. No one is forcing you to buy anything at any given price. And if you do, that has an effect on the market.

not really a bad price....what do people expect?  If this card has similar/greater performance than a titan and has features it doesn't which are useful for workstation cards such as the large memory bandwidth and the gpgpu compute, then the price is very fair.  But I haven't seen any benchmarks yet so i'll reserve judgement till then.

What? You mean like 8800GTX and 8800Ultra?
Like the GTX280?
Like the majority of the dualGPU cards?

It is really pricey and is only on par with the titan and in some cases SLIGHTLY ahead. And the titan is older. Bad buy if you ask me

That's not true at all.  The 8800GTX and 8800 Ultra were $600+ cards.  GTX 280 was $649 at launch.  Almost every high-end dual-gpu card has been over $600 at launch.

Talk about extreme bait and switch/damage control.

You always whine that nvidia is scum for releasing $600+ cards and bragged that the highend volcanic island card would easily beat the Titan for less price than the 780 and now your crying "buh buh what do you guys expect ?" the momenet a $600-700 price tag gets rumord

I always thought AMD was more value-focused.

What the hell is all this about? I mean, this is their new card, yeah, but damn...

Nvidia set the price range this generation...
