Q6600 GO???is that for laptops or what?yoyo462001
No - it's G0 (G-zero), a new stepping for the Q6600 - believed to produce less heat? (Can't remember)

Less heat, allowing for higher overclocks, supposedly.
exactly......anyone know of a lead time?
Gamespot just ate my post...might come back later
anyway, how much will this new G0 model go for compared with the current Q6600?

Hopefully it would be the same as the current $266 (or $299 retail) price - if so - I'm holding it off till it's released then :P

HUh?
They should be the same price - its the same processor just a newer version of it sort of. Apparently they wont start shipping until early August, but some sites in America have already sold G0 stepping ones.
What site is charging that extra £10?

no as logically they will charge more as then all other "non energy efficient" stock will not be bought, therefore a premium of around £10 is charged for the energy saving benefits.
one site is overclockers.com
That doesnt really make sense.. If they are charging extra for the new stepping I wouldnt buy from them, eventually the G0's will become standard. But for the meanwhile, you cant really be certain that its a G0 unless the site says so - I know of an American site that will not sell any Q6600's until they get G0 stock.skinnypete91
no its you thats not making sense...clearly marked items are G0, what do you think happens to all the Q6600 stock thats not G0? its been discounted and sold off, until the G0 arrive prob in September now but a higher price is to be expected nothing in life is free and the energy and heat saving quality's come at a small extra...apperently.
as for the site...i very much doubt it as the g0 is not out yet and you think they will just lose business until then? ludicrous.
They should be out by now (check processor codes and stuff though, as there's really no way to tell other than that), as the QX6850, E6850, E6750 and E6550 use the G0 stepping.Wesker776
hey man just so ya know you can get banned for hallows spoilers even if your messing around.

You're talking about overclockers.co.uk?
I see they have it on preorder, for £10 extra.
They have it labelled as "Energy efficient 95W Edition" - thats misleading. Its not really a seperate edition, its just the new stepping.
Personally I wouldnt pay extra to preorder the G0, they bascially ripping off their customers - you shouldnt have to pay extra for the new stepping. I dont know of any other sites charging extra for G0...
And I believe G0 is out, people in the US have already purchased them and had them delivered...

thats the one, i thinks its fair they have to distinguish between the two Q6600 avil otherwise they will have thousands of non G0 just sitting around, as for out are you sure?
i have searched and can not find any store that sells them as yet with everyone talking about mid august early september release.
