I am switching to an hd tv and right now my ps3 is hooked up to a sdtv with composite cables and i am getting an hdtv for christmas and ps3 componant cables. My question is how do i got about changing the cables and my ps3 display settings (i know how to do it on my ps3) while being able to see on the screen what I am doing I am kind of confused can I get some help here

The PS3 should automaticly switch to using component or whatever when you plug them in and turn on the PS3. Same thing if you use an HDMI cable. If it doesn't switch to using component by itself, i believe all you have to do is hold down the power button for like...10 seconds or something or reset the settings, then it should switch to component output

When i set it up i connected both HDMI and the composite cables, i switched from sd to 1080p HDMI then i unplugged the composite cables, switched to HDMI and hit "ok" when the picture came up...............
