Hi I just got Portal 2 and I am running it at a 600p windowed resolution with everything on high with no AA and 2x AF...

I'm getting very simple lighting and almost no reflections (on portal gun, world etc). Maybe I have too high expectations or something? But the Portal gun looks dirty and stark especially, and I don't get the reflections and all that from portal 1....is this supposed to happen?

not having specular is a problem, and the water should have world reflections. The lighting is also improved to have global unified lighting and shadowing in portal 2. So i am guessing you do have a problem. And you also are playing at a very low res.if 600p is correct.

Here are screen shots (bad quality sorry) yeah 1024 x 600

1280 x 720 drops the silky smooth 60fps to around 30....so....

Yeah I did that.....it's fine now....still looks a bit stark and dirty though, but better. Anyways, I'm getting around 40 FPS now so...

My laptop isn't great anyway...

You might want to disable vertical sync for a performance boost.

Yeah I tried that....it gives me a slight performance boost at the cost of screen tearing...which looks ugly, but the high fps is better I suppose

Thanks!
