It shows up in BIOS but wont boot.

The hard drive is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 from an older HP desktop

The motherboard is an MSI 970A-G46

Help would be appreciated.

Are you trying to boot from it or use it as an additional data drive? If the latter; go into disk management and assign it a drive letter.

Boot from it. It will be the main hard drive.

You'll probably have to re-install the operating system.

Do you have a copy of Windows? You just install it like you'd usually install an operating system.

Wouldnt the PC have to recognize the hard drive inorder to install a OP to it?

You said it's recognised in the BIOS, you should be able to install an operating system to it.

If it shows in BIOS means it recognized the HDD for OS Install.
