Well heres my problem ...

I just built my first desktop about 2 months ago and ive been having one issue with it where it will just randomly shut off on me..

Ive got plenty of air flowing in it and its not overheating, when it happens im not doing anything extensive, it will just totally shut off with no warning

Some times it will run fine and then other times it will run then shut off..

any ideas? thanks!

My specs are:
C2Q Q8400 w/stock cooler

Ati 4670

OCZ 550w PSU

4 Gb RAM

Windows 7 64 bit

5 Fans

My friend had this problem, and it turned out to be his power supply. Your power supply might have died. However Usually this means you have a virus. Run that anti-virus! Or use AVG if you don't have one already.

Well im not getting a BSOD, i have before but it was my Ram that was the issue and i have since fixed that..

After it shuts off, it boots up fine and no bsod or anything and i checked for viruses and havent found any..

Im not positive but im pretty sure its not my power supply, i may be wrong though

I know it sounds simple, but have you gone over the pc's innards making sure all the connections are snug and tightly fitted?

If you have i'd suggest the power supply is knackered and it may be worth replacing. I'm not a pc technician but I've found myself overlooking the simple stuff soooo often.

Most liukely a hardware issue since it is a custom built, so most likely a PSU issue. check over your PSU cables.

I say take it to a PC technician who has a fixed charge, these types of problems can take ages to fix.

Goto the websites of your hardware manufacturer. So find out what motherboard you have for example and do a google search to see if anyone else is having similar problem. Do the same for all your components.
