Team Fortress 2 and Red Orchestra 2.

The ones I've had the most fun with on PC, during the time period that makes up the last console generation...
F.E.A.R.
Crysis
Bioshock (all three of them)
STALKER (all three of them)
Metro 2033 (haven't played Last Light yet, but I'm sure it's also awesome)
Half Life 2 trilogy (HL2 may be "last gen", but Episode 1 and 2 should still count)
Black Mesa
Far Cry 3
and, as for multiplayer stuff,
CounterStrike: Global Offensive
Tribes: Ascend
Planetside 2 (haven't played much, since my laptop can't really handle it, but I loved the bit that I did play)
Left 4 Dead 2 has also been worth quite a bit of co-op fun.
Bulletstorm was a great game, super underrated.[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="Ricardo41"]
There is only one recent FPS that I enjoyed from start to finish. Wait for it......Bulletstorm. Short, sweet, and full of hilarious set pieces (dinosaurs, giant ferris wheels, etc.).
NeonNinja
I uninstalled that game after an hour. It just gave me a headache.
even as someone who enjoyed the gears series i could not, no matter how many times i tried, get into bulletstorm.
always makes me feel like i must have missed something when i read how much love the game gets. the core mechanics were clunky and clumsy

I grabbed bulletstorm for free, out of mild curiosity, when origin had that promo code glitch last year (was it last year?) and gave away a shit ton of free games. I was entertained enough that I played it a lot, and finished it fast, but it was a big meh. Might play it again some time if I'm bored, but not likely. Reasonable fun for the one time though. If I had spent like $15 on it, during a sale, I wouldn't have regretted it.
I was kind of interested in the whole skillshot score system for a bit, early on, but didn't get into it enough to really try for crazy stuff.

yeah fortunately i picked mine up during a sale so it wasn't too bad on the wallet. didn't manage to get to the end though.
it's now somewhere in my "to do" pile / mountain of unfinished games
The only way Half-Life 2 is outdated is visually, and I still find it easy on the eyes.
Anyways, best shooter this gen? Either Crysis or Far Cry 3 for me.
There have been a lot I've really enjoyed but I can't think of any that truely stood out like Half-Life 2 or FEAR did back in the day.Â

I'll have to agree with this, I haven't played HL2 until 2 years ago and when I did, go damn it I think I never got stuck up to a game that much. The atmosphere was brilliant, the story and the characters were well put together and the main character didn't even talk lol
STALKER CoP + Misery 2.0. It's a transcendental experience. I wish I didn't already beat CoP so I could truly get lost in the game world.KHAndAnime
Just started Stalker SoC with 2009 complete. Loving it so far. Can't wait to try CoP with Misery 2.0. I've heard great things.
I played Team Fortress 2 the most, but probably Crysis. Half Life 2 isn't from that gen I don't think.cfstar
How many hours do you have logged on for TF2? I had like 300 or 400 but then I uninstalled.
My vote was for Crysis 2. Fun game but also put in Rainbow 6 Vegas.

Well... That's a first.
The Darkness 2 would be a close second for me.[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]STALKER CoP + Misery 2.0. It's a transcendental experience. I wish I didn't already beat CoP so I could truly get lost in the game world.Cwagmire21

Dude. So good. I wish I could play the stalker games for the first time, many times. I might have to finally get around to trying Misery for CoP. I've just used Complete before, but I hear the new misery lets you start the game, lost at night with just flashlight. That sounds like a great beginning to another playthrough.

Around 500 hundred I think, most of which were accumulated around 2008 to 2010. I don't play it nearly as often as I used to but that's mostly because my internet has severe hiccups which usually ruin a play, and eventually I grew tired of it happening. I just need to change the connection some time and I can play perfectly again.I'm surprised nobody has mentioned battlefield 1942 as their favorite, it started the whole battlefield franchise and people just seem to completely disregard it. I'm 17yo and it is still by far my favorite FPS!!!
I'll say Far Cry 2, although most gamers seem to hate it. It was tough to love the game at first, but it really grows on you after a while. I can't go a year without doing another playthrough, I swear something surprises me everytime I play it, the game is so free flowing. I still need to try stalker though.
On top of the pile for more recent FPS games, including 7th gen on the console timescale......
Far Cry 3
-----
The rest in order of my preference:
Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock
Crysis and Warhead
Hard Reset with the free DLC
Crysis 2 and 3
Metro Last Light
STALKER: Call of Pripyat
Edit:
I'd include Bulletstorm (after Crysis 2 and 3). But, I can't play the damn thing because my GFWL account is screwed up. I already finished the game though before the account got screwed.

@th3_3volution, Why did you resurrect an almost 8 month old thread?
@quikdash6
1. Because I can.
2. The topic interested me.
3. I wanted to.
4. I'm my own person who doesn't care about what anyone else says.
i don't know about gens, but last time i had fun with singleplayer shooters, it was Crysis and Stalker. while i think Bioshock is artistically great, the game is just too confined to my taste.
Best MP FPS: Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4,CS:GO, Left 4 Dead 2, and Battlefield 3/4
Best SP FPS: Bullet Storm,Crysis Series, Stalker Series, and Bioshock Series
