What is it? Include things like the case and peripherals such as the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.

I personally can't answer this question since everything used now was bought at the same time (November 2009). Though if it's worth anything, my GPU arrived before anything else (9800 GT). :D

All my parts are the same age except my 2 new sticks of ram and 2 new extra hard drives. If I had to guess I would say that my power supply will eventually be the oldest component, Corsair vx550 ftw. Edit: I bought my parts in 2008, when Nvidia was kicking ass with the 8000 series.

My monitor. The thing is a dinosaur. I really should buy a new one and see what a Radeon 5770 is supposed to look like :P

I've been re-using a couple of peripherals that border on being old junk; my keyboard belonged to a friend of mine and i'm sure that must have originally came with a pc she bought over 10 years ago. my mouse is an old-school microsoft one (ball-mouse) and the monitor i am currently using came with the very first pc i bought (crt).

getting a new monitor is my top priority and i have had my eye on one for a while now. unfortunately my refrigerator broke down not too long ago, and i replaced it using up most of my monitor budget :( my speakers, my case and everything inside my case is less then 2 years old, except for a pci tv-tuner card and a sata 80 gb hdd which i used to transfer files and now use for a little extra storage, both transferred from my previous pc.

I used 15 year old speakers. They came with a computer my dad bought that was a whopping 133mhz. I finally replaced them a little over a year ago.

My 9600GT. I use it for Physx but I'm going to be taking it out since I don't play anymore Physx games and it just puts out needless heat.

I believe you. The old IBM keyboards were mechanical as opposed to bing more electronic like today's keyboards. The result was keys that felt very different than most keyboards today. Some people love the way they used to feel.

Yes, they are amazing. Unfortunately I odn't have one, so I just settled with a Keytonic keyboard which has a similar feel.

I did not know that. The keys do feel very good though. I just really love the shape and lean to it.

On this current PC.....

Carryovers from the previous PC:

Speakers

Pioneer DVD burner

Case

Keyboard

SB Audigy 2 Value

USB flash memory reader

-----

Carryovers from 2 PC generations back:

Mouse

Logitech joystick and driving wheel

-----

I do have a circa-1998 Hauppage WinTV PCI on another PC. But, that PC is currently in storage. We'll be bringing it back with us when we return from our roadtrip out west.

A few people were talking about using old sound cards, and this has interested me since i have an old pc with a sound blaster. Is a 7 year old sound card better than modern integrated? Would it be worth transferring it?

I'm not sure in all cases. I generally don't have too many problems with sound. But, Crysis would sometimes crash and burn at the very last Boss level when I used the built-in Realtek audio. There was no such problem when I used my SB Audigy 2 Value.

my psu from 2007-2008 ish still holding up great for a mystery brand (safe power 585 watt) it has a moderate 12v rail and has a neat-o brass finish on it as well as decent length cables and such.. and tbh if it can handle all i want and more i dont complain.

General purpose genius desktop speakers (I use headphones for gaming), 120GB Maxtor IDE HDD (obviously not my main drive), LG DVD Drive. All from 2004 but working flawlessly up to this date and time.

Core components: Tied between my Q6600, GA-P35-DS3P 2.0, 8800 GT, WD5000AAKS, and Silencer 610. I'll probably have to knock the 8800 GT off that list soon, though, and I don't see myself replacing the CPU, mobo, or PSU for another three to five years. Peripherals: IBM Model M 1391401 by a mile. Its manufacture date is May 30, 1989, though I haven't had it for 21 years...probably closer to 3 years. Nevertheless, you'd be hard-pressed to find a cheap rubber dome keyboard hold out for 21 years...not that I'd even want to use one after experiencing the great feel of buckling springs. Also of note are my Dell P1110 (21" FD Trinitron; I don't know exactly when this one was made, but I'd guess 2000 to 2002) and my Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar + Thrustmaster RCS setup (the Cougar's a 10-year-old design that's only just now getting succeeded by the HOTAS Warthog, and the RCS pedals are even older, dating back to the era of the FCS, WCS, and gameports-well, except for the Hall sensor mod that's replaced the original potentiometer).

Either my Klipsch Promedia speakers (I bought them used) or my Coolermaster Centurion 534 case. I've been using this case since 2007. It housed my Socket 939 system in it's later days, as well as my LGA 775 system, and now my AM3 system.

My Klipsh ProMedia 4.1s - they're ten years old now. Yeah, I paid a lot for them but I can safely say now that they were a fantastic bargain considering how much use I've gotten out of them (they made it through three different PCs) and how great they still sound. They might even sound better now than when I bought them.

I got a 8 year old Dell keyboard from 3 computers ago that im using to type this. It still works great and whenever i see one of those $150 Logitech 'gaming' keyboards at a store, i have the overwhelming urge to puke.

No offence to anyone who owns one of the said 150 dollar keyboards.

I have to say my oldest thing would be my monitor, case, and hard drive. I bought all those when I first got my pc over a year ago.. but pretty soon it'll just be the monitor ;)

Still using the TT Armor case from several years ago. Its gigantic though ( never have to worry about parts outgrowing the inside) and after cutting the stupid fin things off the front and modding the side and top for my chilled water i really dont see EVER changing until i have to when a new form factor comes out or something.

I also still have a Floppy drive installed. The drive itself has been used in every system i have built since i did my first build back in like 1995. Its sort of a sentimental thing.

Thats the thing about a good solid set of speakers, as long as they are still working, they are still good no matter how old they are.

Since I'm still using DDR2 (Bad choice since the board came with crossfire and I only use nvidia, didn't wanna spend extra for DDR3 too) A stick of 512mb would probably be the oldest (Have 2 2GB OCZ sticks from 09 in there.) Well my CD and DVD drive and WD 250GB drive would be just as old as them. Came from a Dell XPS 500 I got for my birthday. Huuuuuge waste of money, tried to tell my mother to let me build my own, but I was definitely grateful since it was my first gaming PC.

Can't wait to get a new 1TB WD hard drive. Even my external is filled up!
