Computer was running slow until I noticed that it was only running at 800 mhz. From various google searches this is what I came to: My mobo and the list of supported cpus: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9N-SLI-V2.html#/?div=CPUSupport CPU i bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103934 I just noticed that the CPU i bought is 125w and the supported list only shows 95w. Is this where the problem is?

Why you would have gone and bought that CPU, after this thread, I do not know...

I would assume the 95W socket is the problem.

Where/how did you get your CPU speed? Check dxdiag before you make any conclusions. Often in some monitoring programs, you'll be given the current speed, not the max speed, since the processor will slow down to keep down power usage when idling.

Cool'n'quiet.

Also what c_rule said.

But 800Mhz is the default desktop speed when the cpu has cnq enabled.

You bought a CPU with isn't listed as supported for your mobo :?

Yeah, that might cause some issues.

If it is supported then CoolnQuiet is throttling your CPU when it is idle. Run a CPU intense task. It should increase the multiplier.

LOL. That is a different CPU. I read the first post "No." and never came back to it. Now reading the 2nd post I wish I saw that one. I checked the CPU speed in dxdiag and CPUID
