Hi guys, I was just wondering if I got a new motherboard and cpu, would I have to get a new copy of Windows Vista? Right now, I have a Core 2 duo and I want to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad or AMD Phenom. Thanks for help in advance.

You'll probably have to reinstall Vista but you should be able to use the same copy. Worst case you have to re-activate your copy by phone.

normally, you don't need a new copy, just keep the registration key from your previous cd

Not true, if the copy is OEM, it is tied to the motherboard.

Oh ok, thanks. Do you guys think it is worth it to upgrade an intel core 2 duo e6700 ( i think) 2.67 ghz? If so, do you recommend the AMD Phenoms or Intel core 2 quad?

Not worth the upgrade. Your CPU is good for at least another year.
