I have my PS3 hooked up to my 22 inch monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution. I feed it a 1080p signal and it downscales it to fit the screen. I have read online that it damages the monitors to do this. Is that true?

i think there are some monitors out there that would be damaged if they were fed a resolution that they couldn't display, but most have the ability to downsize the image (like your monitor). if your monitor downsizes the image for you, then i wouldn't worry about it getting damaged.
