Metro Last Light Low FPS

I finished Metro Last Light last night (haha) and At first I was able to run the game smoothly on Normal settings, then towards the end I had issues running it on the lowest settings possible. Here are my laptop's specs:

GPU: Geoforce GT 555M

CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz

Memory: 4 gb RAM

I figured the game wouldnt run well with these specs but its weird that I was playing fine on Normal and had to go on lower settings and set my resolution to 800x600 :/

Is there a way to force DX9 instead of DX11?

hmm idk, i think theres a way to change it. i finished the game but the frame rate really hindered my experience.
