Hi, I just bought and installed Mafia 2 but when i click on "Play game" in Steam nothing happens. I already tried starting it with admin privs and in different compatibility modes but nothing works. Is there a fix for this please? Here is my configuration: Windows 7 Ultimate Asus P7P55D Motherboard Intel Core I5 750 quad core 2.67 Ghz ATI x1950XT 256 MB Graphic card 4 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz 1TB SATA II Harddrive

But this videocard outperforms most ATI HD cards of today, its that fast. Last time i asked in teh store for a equivalant performance card and they simply did not have it cause they said those cards where too expensive for most people. So how come?

It's possible that the game doesn't support a 256 mb video card. As I checked the requirements and the minimal is a 512 mb video card.

Yeah and your GPU is pretty dated.

And no it doesn't. It's about on par with a 7800GTX.

Unfortunately you probably have to upgrade your video card. I recommend a 8800 gt or 9800 gt there cheap and have good performance. I got my Zotac 9800 gt for 61 bucks used you can get a 9800 gt new for around 100 bucks.

You need a better graphics card and possibly CPU.

A new CPU?! Yeah right, I don't say this normally but you really have no clue what you are talking about when you start saying things like that. My system has an Intel I5-750 native quad core! The only bottleneck on my system is the graphics card, the rest of the components is way above even the recommended system specs. I think I will get an ATI HD 3870 or 4870 series card, maybe a 57xx we'll see. But please do not make wild claims if it is clear that you do not know what you are talking about or that you even read my post. Thank you.

i5 750 is currently among the best gaming cpus cost-performance wise, but you don't pair it with a 256 ram video card...

But let me guess you bought a laptop, and didn't check the gpu? If you want to stick to ati you can buy a 5770 and max this game.

I think I have the same problem as the poster: When I start the game the screen with three guys comes up, then it disappears and nothing else happens. This is the first time I'm posting on a forum, so I'm sorry if I don't get all the information right. I have an ASUS N61Jv: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel Core i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27 GHz RAM: 4.0 GB Nvidia GeForce GT 325M 2.6 GB I have updated my drivers, so I don't think that is the problem, but I might be wrong.

Do you have the physx driver installed I heard if it's not installed the game will crash on launch. Also did you try reinstalling the game.

Hi, Wow, I just found this topic again that I started in 2010. I can't believe I actually played with a 256 GB card, lol. And yes I bought the ATI 5770 HD back then and it worked :-)
