Alienware's are not worth it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231630

For an Alienware with same gpu , with 4gb more system memory and slightly faster cpu you will pay 2.5k

One of my buddies went with a Lenovo Y510P 755m SLI and loves it. However, should point out that the 860m is based on Maxwell architecture and is nearly 2x faster then a single 755m. While SLI would allow the 755m SLI to perform on par or slightly better then a single 860m two 755m SLI TDP is 100w while a 860m is like 50w.

In general its better to grab a stronger single gpu over multiple slower ones. Your performance is dependent on the game and driver and you never get 1:1 scaling.

Don't listen to predator rules you can get far better laptops for under 1,500 then a duel 755m lenovo ideapad.

Then your best bet would be to go for a laptop with an 860m in it. It equals the performance of those duel 755m's and it matches a 770m in most games with far less power draw and heat being pumped into your lap. link. That link shows how it compares to the others. It will give you far less headaches then duel cards, you'll have a dvd drive and a cooler running gpu. I don't have time to go looking for deals but I'm sure since your in the market for one you can take the time to go looking around the major online retailers for a good deal/price or research different kinds of laptops. If your going to be spending that much you should be taking more then a few days of searching, but try to see if Amazon prime is still free you might be able to get a sick deal from them.

The dvd drive occupies the ultrabay and SLI takes that place.

Just get a portable optical drive because these days optical drives don't really have a purpose with digital media and flash drives have pretty much replaced them.

I can say the y510p is a great choice. My brother the GT 750m model and he loves it. There are some downsides, like the trackpad not being the best and some models have bad wifi cards. As for gaming goes, it's great and the price is better than most gaming laptops I've seen.

Well prices in Canada are higher but not like in my country which are double that.

I found 2 good laptops one with i5 and the other with i7 - the difference is quite nice but it's up to you 100$.

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_1198&item_id=067540 i5

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_1198&item_id=067539 i7

Both are with single 755m, I think for a dual 755m or single 860 you'll pay about 1500$.

That's all depends on your budget limit.

EDIT: I found you something far more BEASTY than the 860 or the dual 755 at your price range:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_1198&item_id=068874 and the difference between it and the i5 isn't much but the GPU performance is twice as strong

both has 750m sli

not sure if these is a big diff between the 755 and 750

for the budget i just to consider 15% tax for a max of 1500...max wont go 1cent highter xd

HD 8970 doesnt look that much stronger

currently considering this

well that's something, again you can't change GPU so...

I can recommend you getting on that same site the MSI with the 870 and the i7 it also comes with extra RAM so in the future you won't have to worry about bad ports etc.

How about this one: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_1199&item_id=069032

It's the same laptop only with 860m and using notebookcheck as a source the difference between the 770 and the 860 is 1% difference in actual gaming performance, I guess their architecture is phenomenal

EDIT: the tigerdirect doesn't allow me access it says:

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?" on this server.

Yeah it's a decent budget gaming PC, for your mom, a multimedia PC I'd recommend something like this: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/3uwZT you can upgrade CPU to A6, A8 or even A10 but that's not neccesary, you can add SSD of 60Gb to boost up OS login and improve browsing, programs etc.

Yes you can install SSD only, but take attention, she won't be able to download tons of big files, if it's browsing only sure install 60Gb SSD with Windows and try to not update OS too much, I don't know how much Windows updates take but I use 8.1 stock without any updates and it takes about 35Gb. (works like charm)

EDIT: As for monitor, I can recommend you on Asus, Dell, LG and Samsung as brands.

keyboard and mouse I recommend on Logitech Wireless set MK220.

Ya at the $1000 dollar price range the best your going to find is a 860m computer. It runs cooler, doesn't use as much power and holds up to 755m sli and 770m systems no problem.
