I'm sure its been asked already so sorry but I can really only afford one which one is the community enjoying most? I hear Dishoured is very short? and what is the base building aspect of Xcom like?
Thanks

if you like stealth games i highly recommend dishonored. its a cross between deus ex, thief and splinter cell, set in a half life 2 like dystopian world. loving it so far and there's plenty to do if you don't rush through the game.
xcom's next on my shopping list so can't comment on that
I haven't played either, but they both look sick!
But I'm not gonna lie, I don't enjoy turn-based strategy games. And XCOM still looks awesome. It looks like the one game that could totally convert me.
On the other hand, Dishonored is a safer bet for someone like me. It also looks to fix the issues I had with Deus Ex: Human Rev: stupid boss fights, boring city hub/gameworld, no standout characters, pointless ending, stupid final mission. Human Rev is awesome, but Dishonored looks even bette!
Tough choice man..... :P
I say wait for a steam sale... and get both..
But if you cant wait ide sayDishonored may have the edge.... only just tho. enjoying them both atm.
Dishonoured is brilliant if you liked deus ex (prob milionth time thats been said) very few games are as good as deus ex imo. I've never seen or read anything steampunk based but I really like the setting in dishonoured. I'm putting off playing it till I have some essays I have to do out of the way so I can enjoy it more.
I don't know about xcom put its deffinatley longer and if your paying full price I imagine length is desired. If you played the previous xcom game/s? its apparently much of the same.
It really depends on what you want. Stealth/action type FPS game with interesting storyline. Or a tactical strategy game with light base building and nice customization with interesting storyline.
Get it from GreenManGaming as it's probably cheaper on there.
I can't speak for Xcom but DON'T buy Dishonoured at full price. Its hilariously overrated: lousy story, superficial choices, uneven difficulty and derivative of much better games.
Dishonored was really good probably in my running for GOTY. Although i didn't get it for full price and probably wouldn't pay that but it's because i'm cheap.
If you fancy a first person Steampunk incarnation of the Hitman games go for Dishonored. There are many different ways to complete missions and you can go about it either lethally or nonlethally.
If you prefer turn based strategy and outwitting a ruthless alien force that is trying to destroy Earth by upgrading your resources while naming soldiers after your friends and enemies, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a great choice.
I think XCOM has more replayability as a strategy grid game but if you want a quick fix of immersive action gameplay, also consider Dishonored.
I own both.

I played Dishonored for a couple of hours actually, not.6, but I was playing on the account I ahve setup for my Home Theater PC.
But still. That's a couple of hours vs 33 hours on Xcom. Dishonored is good. I'm totally going to go back to it, but sorry, no Xcom is a WAY more interesting game.
I'd pick up xcom and then wait for a sale on dishonored. the next Steam sale is just aorudn the corner, so you probably won't have to wait long.
I got both games, and I would recommend XCOM.
Both games are quite good, but somehow, I don't feel immersed into Dishonored.
it's kinda weird, but im actually having a hard time finishing Dishonored, the game is well made and everything, but it's missing something, somehow imo (ofc.).
I am not getting the same excited feeling from Dishonored as I did with Hitman or Thief games.
Sofar Ive playied X-COM for a it over 24 hours (according to steam, not sure if its sounting time when community is down). Finished it in those 24 hours, but I allready itch to get another go at it (think it can be finished quickly for everyone who pleyied the original).
Dishonored have clocked in 12 hours so far. I like it alot, but to me the sandbox of getting by, taking out guards, and exploring are far more appealing then the story. I do not really feel that connected to the story, and the characters while serving thier purpose are forgettable, to me I could get a target of anyone, and I could not care less, nevermind the missed attempt to get it all driven by revenge.
Overall I Prefer X-COM over Dishonored, but I find them both quite good, however looking at this forum alone, makes it clear that Dishonored is very polarizing while X-COM has a more gathered response to playing (both good and bad)
I like XCOM because the tactical side is very intense and has a nice presentation but it's buggy and, well, dice rolls are the worst thing ever. I'd rather have Silent Storm's physical simulation.
Dishonoured (...) superficial choices

It's no Alpha Protocol but it's damn close and far better than any other modern game in this regard. So you're either talking about dialogue choices, of which there are like five, or you're not aware of how the game reacts to your playstyIe.
On the other hand it doesn't have a kick button. Dark Messiah still reigns supreme.

Yeah Dark Messiah had a kick button that allowed you to kick enemies into spikes...
But in Dishonored you can use windblast which is even better than kick: you can throw enemies in a wall of light which is way more satisfying than kicking ever felt in Dark Messiah:P

I find it highly unlikely that the choices in Dishonored are better than The Witcher 2.Please Log In to post.
