just wondering if there is any system out there for retail that can completely max out crysis, with maximum aa and af on at like 1600 by 1200? without ever dropping below 30 fps? always completely playable?

i watched videos on youtube of like quad sli 9800gx2, but they dont have aa on, and the minimum fps they get is like 20 which is unplayable

cheers!

This isnt the system he used for that.. And he could reach 80fps once or twice in the Crysis built-in benchmarking nothing more.
The simple answer is NO if you are talking about very high even with AA enabled

What about the Alienware ALX for thoughts because of the high clocks & minimal bottlenecks? I'm NOT going to tell you the price as its too high & would be just advertising it!

CPU: QX9770 @4Ghz, RAM: 4GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator @1600Mhz, MOBO: 790i Ultra SLi, GPU: GeForce 9800 GX2 in SLI, PSU: 1200W, etc....

I would be suprised if this struggled to play Crysis. If it did, then theres something seriously wrong with the game. Just wait a few months for prices to drop so you can get a similar system cheaper. Or do what I did & edit the CFG files to slightly tone down the game/gfx details to get decent FPS. There are lots of guides out there.

My mate has got a QX6850 @ 3.5Ghz, 4Gb 1.1Ghz RAM + 8800GTX in SLI (all watercooled) & managed an average 40fps at 1650x1080. Using the tweaks I learnt, he then averaged 60fps. He scored 18K in 3dmark06.

Also try this after patching to latest and last Crysis Patch v1.2; I have created the neccessary files already tweaked to put into your Crysis Config folder for higher FPS but still high quality gfx. Backup existing files mysystem.cfg + system.cfg. Once its been extracted, you should see your Graphic options has some listed as Custom. Don't change these from now on unless you want to undo the config, only change the other items if you want even higher FPS.

PC Gamer mag reviewed a bunch of cards (9800 GX2, HD 3870X2). Both couldn't get higher than 1 FPS in average on Crysis 2560x1600 on high with 4x antialiasing

I think this affordable PC can come close. Hell, it's the price of a new Civic :P

With no floppy disk drive to make it affordable.

the new line of GPU's coming out this summer are supposedly able to max crysis based on data collected on specs, charts, and benches. We wont know for sure for about 2-4 weeks, but more then likely they will be able to max crysis. Of course at the cost of a pretty penny. BTW for those that dont know about Trubitar Beast Master Skulltrail . those specs are nearly the best currently availible on the market At this point in time (wont be for long).

Imagine that popularity with Crysis and the next installment with Warhead will jump through the roof. Now that people can max this game, more games will soon follow, im sure of it.

lol I wasn't aware we were including video cards that don't exist yet. But ya the Geforce 480GTX 8xSLI can run crysis maxed out with 16x AA at around 120FPS minimum, but that card isn't going to be out for 2-3 years. so yes it can be maxed out:roll:

But ya CrysisimplementsDX10 very very poorly(as almost all games do) which is why it runs so awful on the highest settings. in the next year or 2 we will see true DX10 games that will look a lot better then crysis and perform better as well.

The crytek engine is simply to flawed to run well on current hardware, no fault of the hardware, all fault of crysis poor coding.

This is what the site said: 'Tri SLI was unfortunately unable to play Crysis at "Very high" without AA without feeling laggy. Whilst the average FPS is 18, it was faltering and not easy to play with, dropping to 4FPS at points.'

It can run it far better than anything else and a average of 18 IS very good for very high. It didn't have AA but thats probaly the best we can get until the new GeForces.
