I was really hoping for something like BG or some other RP that I'd played previouly, but in the end it was nothing but a horrible, horrible game. They tried to make something real, then made it so real that it became fake and redundant.nightseed
I have the demo - i thought it was awesome. What do you mean by fake and redundant exactly?
if you want a truly amazing RPG , get Oblivion .
Arch-Vil
Don't you mean action adventure game? Don't insult the genre by calling Oblivion an RPG
The Witcher is in my TOP 3 RPGs of all time and is the best CRPG of 2007 though I highly recommend you wait for the Enchanced Version
[QUOTE="biggest_loser"][QUOTE="Arsenal325"]What other game would you recommend?RK-Mara
Bioshock: thats a great game.
So you are comparing a 12-hour shooter to a 40-hour RPG? The Witcher is better.
Dude, you can't even compare them and Im not trying to. The man asked what other games we would recommend...
If you liked the demo, you should like the full game. It's more of the same, only it gets better for the most part.
The only RPG I would recommend above The Witcher is Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. If you've never played that, I'd recommend that far more highly. It's on steam for about $20.

Exactly, but make sure to get the unoffical patch, one of the bes experiences I've had in RPGs.

Ok, I'll soon start to cry because the game doesn't work for me. I don't care about the $10 I spend on it but I care about not playing such a great game.

Fixed ;)
No, adventure games are games with thinking and without action (Broken Sword, Monkey Island)

Now, it's fixed
Isn't an updated version of the Witcher going to be released later this year?BlueBirdTS
Actually, I would recommend TC to wait a bit and buy it, or buy an old version and download the patch for free...
The game is great, but the translation is horrible, they're gonna retranslate it, so it's worth the wait (unless you speak polish, 'cause polish version was a masterpiece).

Actually, the wonky translation was one of the more endearing parts of the game. Polish the tranlation and you might start to see all the other flaws, I'd advise the company against it myself. Use the resources on a new game, this one is a dead end at this point.

i must try those patches at some stage...i have the orgigonal retail copy? do they really imrpvoe things. i thought the game could have been a real masterpiece if it wasnt so badly broken and balanced...even with the official patch. if the unoffical ones really make a difference?
as for witcher....great game. translations is a bit wonky (hopefully will be fixed with the patch due in may...or the enhanced edition) and the fighting can be a little hit and miss when it comes to responding to controls (though its quite tactical and u have to pay attention...esprcially on harder settings). but overall i think its a cracker. ive decided to stop playing it until this new patch is released and then go again from the start. it starts off a bit badly though...the training in the castle is pretty messy. act1 (which i believe was i the demo) is also not the greatest. once u get past that though....things really get interesting.
