Just watching people on Youtube, you basically have a plot of land only big enough to make a small town. The weird thing is you have all these sky scrapers filling all the space up and it looks more like a small section of a city, especially since the plot is square and so fake looking. I don't like the graphics either, it looks too contemporary and not dirty enough to be a city, there is nothing visually different from rough parts to nice parts. From the gameplay I've seen it seems rather restrictive to where your city can only really be a one trick pony because again the plots of land are so small. The other thing I find is when watching people play, it seems rather dumbed down, they spend a lot of time not doing much because of how limited it is. There is also no in depth transport options and no terrain editor...... It looks so bad, that coupled with no Steam version, always online DRM and how it's £45-£65 frigging quid, I mean it's £20 extra just for some more building types, which the base game needs. It wouldn't surprise me that EA plan to release hundreds of quids worth of over priced, lackluster DLC of features that should have been in the main game like The Sims.

Don't buy it then, you aren't entitled to the game being designed the way you want it just go play something else instead.

I'm a bit more worried about the reports of people trying to log back in and they're cities aren't synced with the cloud data, essentially deleting the city that took them a few hours to build.

You can still build large cities, they are just divided into more maps. All your cities are connected.

Agreed. I found the city building very simplistic and Ea basicly will just release half a game at full retail price then nickle and dime you to death for the rest.

But sorry to say tons of people will be buying it with everything EA throws at them so don't blame EA for making extra cash considering all the suckers that are willing to pay.

I think TB sums it up well, if you want to build one massive city this game isn't for you. if your ok with many small cities your have fun

I am one of them suckers haha. For the main game anyway. I aint paying £5 for a blade of grass.

Also you can not higher or lower terrain like you can in others so this proly be a microtransaction tool to buy. lol. Will be peed if it is.

I can't wait for the save/sync to mess up for somebody so EA can get blasted for their mediocre origin client.

The pricing is unusual. Sure they call it a "limited edition" yet if you check Origin you find that there is no "standard" edition that would be the standard £30 launch price.

I do want to play the game, but am also happy to wait a couple of months, by which time it will likely have fallen below £20 in a sale.

I think they made the maps smaller becuase the sims are more of a focus in the game. When you zoom in you can actually follow a sim throughout the day. If you have a huge megaplex super city with tons and tons of sims it almost takes away form that.

If you watch that video..It shows busses going from one end of a city to the third city across the way, kind of interesting...

not going to lie..... the city sizes are ludicrous. i mean they arent even cities.... IRL that size would barely be a freaking town. 2 square km?

I'm going to wait and see if EA whore the game out with a penny pinching DLC shop. IF they dont go the penny pinching route and instead make substantial DLC I may actually bite later on.

I like the graphics. I am equally puzzled why the graphics of 15 year old games would literally hurt anyone's eyes.

Well for one I'm used to playing games with graphics from this century, so my eyes are not used to older games and the visual styles presented back then. Thus I get headaches. Playing old games on a 26 Inch 1900 by 1200 Monitor sucks monkey balls without mods.

I'm not buying from a service that requires you to buy somewhere else for you to not have to pay that ridiculous price for. I mean talk about inconvenient..... it would be like every game on Steam being £60, however if you go to a retailer, you can get it for half that :\ Like wtf? No one would **** use it.

Really sad. I can live with AO-DRM because on my end I have a connection to the internet all the time but I'll not be buying this when EA can't even get their servers to work properly after this already happened in the beta. EA is using a beta more and more for demo purposes and not to make adjustments or improvements on the game.

I learned my lesson with Diablo 3. I really was looking forward to this but I'm not buying it anymore.

Uh, I do that all the time with Steam. I find it pathetic that some people are too lazy to order it somewhere else and activate it on said service. Sad, really sad.

Luckily for me i'm patient and don't mind waiting for games till they get established and sell for much cheaper. Paying 60+ bucks to wait to play what is really a single player game is a joke. Atleast we have less greedy smaller game makers that make excellent games like Torchlight 2 and sell them right from the start at just 20 dollars.

I'm patient too. But I had hoped they resolved the issues in the beta. I didn't mind waiting half an hour to play, but then I hate to wait another half an hour, then another 15 minutes and then another 15 minutes. So only an hour and a half later I could play on the busiest day of the beta (the day before I had zero issues connecting). That's pushing my patience to the limit :P

Yeah, and those kinds of developers usually give out a lot of free content. While big publishers milk everything they can out of a game with DLC and microtransactions.

I think the OP was trying to say that he is a fan of the game and is dissapointed to not see it being as "good" in his own opinion as the other games in the series. is that right? if so then more power to you. nothing worse than seeing a series take a dookie

This is the only reason I haven't already purchased the game. When I look at "The Sims", it's pretty much turned into a shameless DLC money grab and I'm concerned that this game may go the same way. Hell, even Dead Space 3 started going this route.

Sim City getting good reviews so far, 91% after 8 reviews.

Here is a youtube viedo of some dudes starting a new area togethere if you care to watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFlgtpomrHc

As far as issues most of my friends had to wait to download last night till 12:30 or 1am, after that it was fine for them. Most agmes have some kinda issues on day one, even if its not an online game. Hell I remember having to wait till 7pm at night to play Risen1 when it first came out cuz of server troubles with steam (When I was suppose to be able to download n play at 10am). Atleast from friedn experience so far it seems to run very well once the download is done.
