Poll: Important input needed: merge PC/Mac/Linux Society with PC Hardware? (17 votes)

Yes! 94%
No! 6%

Or, to be more precise, shut down PC Hardware and allow for all PC platform discussion to occur in one forum instead of two.

If your vote is no, I'd like to hear why

Please note: we won't do anything if we only get, like, 1 or 2 respondents. That's not a good sample size.

I'm all for it so long as it's policed enough to keep spammers out. I recall being suspicious of some threads in both although they weren't as numerous as the ones in Game Discussion.

@jun_aka_pekto: we're hoping it might consolidate (increase) traffic, and also make it easier+more rewarding for mods to police. Hopefully a win-win

I only visit either periodically but have no issue with them being merged

Copy and paste of what I posted on the hardware forum....

I am all for the merge. Hardware, software, games, etc. all come together and make PC such a great platform. No need to separate them into sub-forums. One forum to discuss all things PC is ideal.

The PC forums are starting to get smaller and I believe you should be able to talk all things PC in one forum just like you can talk all things PS or Xbox in their forums.

There will be too many "OMG CAN MY <INSERT 10 YEAR OLD DELL MODEL W INTEGRATED GRAPHICS HERE> LAPTOP PLAY GAMES???" threads posted by 10 year olds in Khazakstan, but I don't think merging would be an entirely bad thing....

I do not think it will be a big deal, but it is either can my PC play this game or can someone recommend a 10 year old a build that they will never build.

@attirex: honestly, I don't think we get too many of those. At least not any more. If we do run into this, we can create a solution (e.g., shut down random "can i run it" threads and funnel "help me build it" into a suggestion thread)

Sounds good. Maybe could pin a few thread types including "Is this build OK" and "Can I run this game?" Also, any thread necromancers should be immediately banned. :-) Drives me nuts when someone is obviously googling around for a solution to some obscure issue, gets a 15 year old thread on this forum as a hit, creates an account, and then asks a question in said thread. When that happens zombies and ghosts come out of my screen.

Totally for a merge. I think PC hardware and PC gaming have a sort of fluidity of discussion between each-other.

Question @xantufrog though: would AV talk still be allowed as well? Sometimes I have questions about audio equipment, what HDR is the best, and who knows what else in the future.

@mrbojangles25: I think AV talk should definitely be allowed, but perhaps doesn't warrant its own forum. Like, if it's about hooking your PC up to home theater, post it here; if it's about TV choices why not just in general discussion? Dolby issues with the X1X, do it in XBox. Etc. I think that would work well enough
