Hi, I'm planning on building a gaming PC (Not the best in the world, but a good one, that is expandable and upgradable further down the track.) Here's what I've come up with. Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks

Motherboard: ASUS P5LD2-X ( Intel 945 - Socket 775 - FSB 1066 )

Memory: 2x DDR2 1GB DDR667 (PC2-5300) - KINGSTON [KVR667D2N5/1G]

Case: Boitier Tour L-Case Duro-1 - black/silver ( 4 x 5.25 ) - 400W

HDD: SATA300 160GB - 7200 SAMSUNG SpinPoint S166 SEC-HD161HJ

DVD Drive: DVD ± RW 8.5GB LITEON DH-20A3P Black OEM [ DH-20A3P-06C ]

That graphics card is no good for gaming, if you are low on cash get 8800GT > HD3850 > 7600GT!

All looks good, except for the graphics card. Have a look at the ATI 3850 / 3870... or if you can afford it the GeForce 8800GT

If you want to upgrade, do not pay money for a 945 chipset board. Upgrading is centered around your motherboard, and having an outdated chipset on an Intel platform is basically saying you never want to upgrade your processor again. Look for a decent P35 chipset motherboard at the very least.

But since you're contemplating an 8500GT as a graphics card, you've definitely got some budgeting problems somewhere. The HD2600XT is the lowest you should even be considering right now, and even then I'd shoot for an HD3850 in a gaming machine.

As a final note, if you're not an overclocker, going AMD might prove beneficial.

So I checked out all your comments, and came up with this. What do you guys think?

INTEL Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz E4500 + Ventilateur [ LGA775 - 2MB - 65nm - 800MHz ]

ABIT IP35 ( Intel P35 Express - Socket 775 - FSB 1333 )

DDR2 2GB [1GBx2] DDR667 (PC2-5300) - CORSAIR Value Select [VS2GBKIT667D2]

Boitier Tour L-Case Duro-1 - black/silver ( 4 x 5.25 ) - 400W

SATA300 160GB - 7200 HITACHI (8 MB) Deskstar 7K160 [HDS721616PLA380]

GIGABYTE GV-RX385256H-B PCIe ( ATI Radeon HD3850 256DDR 2xDVI TV )

DVD ± RW 8.5GB LITEON DH-20A3H LightScribe Black OEM [DH-20A3H-06C]

personally, i'd get better ram. DDR2-800 is the minimum i'd be aiming for, and you can get some good professional quality ram for cheap prices.

check the 2x1Gb of Corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2-800.
