Evening all!

Ok , for my gaming PC I put IE7 on it but it feels like its slower then IE6. I dont seem to like IE7(probably cause I'm not used to it). Is thier an advantage to IE7 that should make me keep it on my gaming PC? I have already disabled that phishing scanner on it. So , if you have any advantages/disadvantages please let me know.

Oh , and if it helps at all I'm running XP PRO.

Thanks!

Keep the most up to date version of IE on your computer for things like Windows Update pages or work apps that need the ActiveX controls.

For actual browsing use the most up to date version of Firefox.

You're gonna get a hundred people in here saying "OMGz GET FIREFOX". Well to them, I say stuff it. Just use IE7 if you want, it wont really make a difference in which you have.

If you're not already using firefox, get it. Though even if you don't use it, you may as well update IE, since it plays such an integral part to the Windows kernel. Tabbed browsing is officially in IE7, where it used to be that you had to install some IE wrapper software to make IE support tabbed browsing before. I use Firefox 98% of the time, but for the very few sites that I do open IE for, I use IE 7 with the IEPro extension installed, which at least covers most of the extensions that I already have on Firefox.

Firefox, I know it's a little scary to switch, but you'll be happy with it.

IE6 should be fine, but if you want tabbing then IE7 or Firefox. Personally, I can't stand Firefox. Then again, IE works for me great whereas on Firefox, it'd give me an error or wouldn't be done correctly.

tl;dr - try both and whichever you like better.

IE7 FTW!

Don't switch to those Firenerds horde! :P

Seriously, just keep with IE7. Its slower than IE6, but I don't think it any much slower anyways. Atleast it uses less memory usage than IE6 when you have a few tabs open compared to a few windows opened for IE6.

Firefox comments aside, I think you should stick to IE6. Great browser, just no tabs.

Use iE7, or use Firefox.

Do all the website designers in the world a favor and dont stick to IE6. Its about time that god-awful mess of a browser got deprecated.

IE7 is good too, but firefox is more simple and not that harder to use. If you like to customize and have addons (not that ie7 has addons but they are ****) then get Firefox. FIREFOX is amazing with tabs, IE7 starts lagging like crazy when I have only 2 tabs up.

IE 7 is the better way to go. It does a much better job with the HTML and CSS standards. I am not sure why people are saying its slower, that is a load. Firefox actually takes longer to load on my rig but they pull up pages about the same.

I actually use both browsers but prefer IE7, I only keep Firefox loaded to check page compatibility when I am writing websites. Firefox and Safari seem to handle pages the same, so if I get it working in Firefox it will generally work in all 3 major browsers.

Funny some people mentioned Opera, I have never been a big fan, but to each their own.

I would use firefox. But between IE6 and IE7, I would use 7 just because of the cleaner interface and tabs. If you truly have a gaming computer, there will be negligible differences between the speed of them because your processor should be able to handle web browsers.

Not nearly as well as it does in firefox, though. At least in FF, it starts searching from the moment you type, so that you at least have a chance of finding the word if you inadvertently would have misspelled it. You don't have that luxury in Internet Explorer.

Opera all the way! However, you should definitely abandon Internet Exploiter 6 already. IE7 has tabbed browsing(an absolute MUST for any browser IMHO), and should have less security holes than its predecessor, at the very least(though it probably still has more than Firefox and especially Opera).
